First of all, was just thinking about the fact that the Strahan sack the play before was easily MS's biggest sack of his entire career. So great to know that our HOF defensive end's final sack was actually the the most important of his career. 3rd and manageable in field goal range, Strahan at 36 years old runs right around the RT and sacks Brady.
7:19 left in the 3rd quarter, 4th and 13, 7-3 ball game, would have been a 49 yard field goal. I think that play was the epitome of the Pats hubris at 18-0 and how it basically was part of their ultimate downfall in that game. I mean really, the way the game was going, points were hard to come by (I'm sure BB/TB couldn't believe this, considering they had gone the whole season walking up and down the field and averaging like 40 points per game). You don't pass on a sub-50-yard field goal in the Super Bowl, especially considering it was 4th and *13* AND your kicker was going to the damn pro bowl a week later. Pats ultimately lose by 3 points. I really don't think this is awful call by Belichek is talked about enough.
Yea. And they did i the same thing this year and it really cost them.

That was my first thought too.

Technically he’s correct
I don’t think so. The roof at the Az stadium was closed
Because EVERYONE knew there was WAY too much time left on the clock.
Send Moss deep on every play to draw safeties back, eat the field in 15-20 yard chunks and GET THE FIELD GOAL.
Look at the Alford sack - I can't find the .gif, but as I recall, mid range receivers on Brady's left were OPEN.
Yes, hubris absolutely did New England in that evening.
A perfect storm.
Best football fan experience of my life that night, really - has there been any point in watching since? We're never, ever gonna top that one.
"We're only going to score 17 points? Ok... ;)"
With a Field Goal kicking Mule? With George Plimpton at QB?
I can't imagine a better storyline than what 2007 turned into. A shitty season, followed by a playoff run of impossibles, to come down to those last drives, those last plays...
I still watch. I loved the remix of 2007 in 2011, it's been a great ride.
But for me, the big one was 07'. Can't imagine a better scenario than that. I don't even think going 19-0 would do it.
Because the David v Goliath shit is just so much more satisfying.
