Draft by many accounts was a smashing success. Two instant starters in Barkman and Angry Angus and a possible third in Carter. Two DTs that should provide credible depth and a high upside QB to compete with Webb once Eli is done.
I think the OL will be strong enough as there should be no exccesingly weak link on it except for possibly RT. However I think Wheeler is going to Surprise. Hes added 20lbs since last year and actually flashed at the tougher LT spot.
The biggest remaining hole to me is one more bonafide CB . And DRC is the best out there. We don't know what Apple is going to give us but mini camps early returns were positive. One more legit CB and I think this team is ready for battle and serious contention for playoffs and possibly a deep run in the playoffs. Id love a FS too but in this system I am not too worried if we can grab another CB.
I kid... but he was hurt an awful lot.
I still think the playoff game in GB goes differently if he isn’t hurt early.
Gettleman won't bring him back here.
1-- The Qb is not very good (the most impt position on the field)
2-- The OLine is not that good.
3-- Any team with a DB of Apple starting is not very good.
4-- We have 1 good Safety.
**If the team went 8-8 they would have had a surprisngly good year.
So many absolute matter-of-fact statements being made this offseason. And likely so wrong.

1. youre nowhere near qualified to judge what eli has left, it be nice to see him with a competant team and coach as we will this year.
2. how the fuck could you possibly know about the OL?!?!?1 we have FOUR new starters, you have ZERO clue how they will be.
3. i agree apple starting is a problem, but lets not act like that ONE guy makes the entire team bad.
4. adams was very servicable and thompson lost a year, so willing to give him another chance. not every team has two good safeties
pretty horrible analysis of the 2018 giants

Its amazing how deflating a post like the one referenced can be to someone who comes here just to read about thought provoking Giants football to pass time. The tyoes of people we get on here dont care about that or this place.
So, I guess that means they still want him around.
The WHOLE team imploded last year, not just him. I don't think he's coming back, at this point. He'll wait until people start getting hurt, then he'll cut the best deal he can for himself.
Were rhe Rams and Vikes championship contenders. How were they the prior year to last one? Are not our improvements (OL, coaching, etc.) not on par with theirs?

No one's putting the Giants in contention for the Super Bowl. Most figure it will take another year, another strong draft to completely right the ship.
Still, 6.5 seems a bit low to me.

Let me translate the responses from Homers such as yourslef.
"I don't want to hear anyone elses negative opinion so I should swear/act tough on my posts and ask silly question such as 'How do you KNOW that' so I cna feel better trying to justify my homer opinion."
Hey Homer--- NOBODY KNOWS 100%. These are all opinions.
Posters like you were saying the same crap a few years ago when the Giants weren't getting offensive linemen.
You're living in the same dreamworld now. And btw, it was Jerry Reese's OPINION that the OL would be fine. ANd it was the OPINION of many of us that his OPINION was flawed.
Thus your bullshit question of "how do I know" appears to be just a weak attempt to not want to hear alternative opinions other than your own.
It's not like ELi doesn't deserve a little bashing. ANd I think you and several others on here have way too high expectation of the OL.
It's not like my opinion is out there. Just look at team projections. Other than the Homer Giants fans such as posters similar to you/maybe like yourself-- why do you think the Giants overall aren't in the consensus top 10? WHat's the latest odds for Giants-- is it 50-1? If the odds are that bad what other questions do you see besides CB and S?
I know.
Look at how upset Bleedblue ripped me for just having a different opinion. These type of homers sort of make me sick. I want our G-Men to do great. I'm excited to see - but these hero-worship type of fans with that can't bear to hear any crticism of their tema make me sick.
And the poster Beer Man who liked his post- just another incoherent . . .

This just isn't true. It's not oen bit true. You CAN see and read on other threads that there are fans that think the G-Men are SB contenders.
Please read the post bleedblue said to me. I criticized Eli and the OL not being "there" yet. Look at his response to me and the poster beer man thought what he said was right.
Then ask-- if Eli is good and the OLine is good- aren't they a Super Bowl Contender? Because wouldn't their offensive be tremendous? And the defense is probably strong in the front 7. ANd Collins and Jenkins are good. SO wouldn't we be a contender?
Then look at how mad bleedblue was at me. With that type of post he sent he's got to think there's a probability I'm dead wrong. Don't kid yourself. There are many quack fans that think we are SB contenders. Well at 50-1 possibly a bit better odds ot get to teh SB - I suppose we are. Heck if we look at it like that- every team is a "contender."

Meh...the exuberance of youth...not to be taken seriously.
There were rumors they were thinking of cutting him before last season simply because he needed to be managed in terms of snap counts due to injury. If you consider how often his injuries flared up, and that he's another year older, it's likely they just didn't want the inconsistency/unknown associated with his health.

Sorry, but you bring those kind of responses on yourself, and you invite the kind of hyperbole that matches, or even exceeds, your own.
The amount of people here who think the Giants are a SB contender right now are an extreme minority. That is not a popular opinion here whatsoever.

Sorry but you're juts in denial. Even another poster tried to reason with you that another poster called a DB "the final piece of the puzzle" and you just kid yourself that there aren't quack Giants fans that think we're a contedner.
Keep living in fantasy land my friend. Sure I could be wrong but my initial post of Eli not being good, the OLine not being good is not very far-fetched. Keep living in fantasy land if you think there is no chance of this happening.

There are just 3 poster on this very thread it sems like they think the giants ARE A CONTENDER. On this VERY THREAD. Yet you have the poster "klaatu" saying "NO ONE IS SAYING THEY ARE A CONTENDER."
I think you need to wake up from your comatose and read other threads too. OFC those that think so are in the minority. Yet you as "TE ANNOINTED One" OF THE THREAD want to dictate / put down those that like to point out the ones who think we are a contender are a bit nuts? I'm not supposed ot reply to the posters taht are nuts? Or to Klaatu who was worng saying "no one was saying it" when you have 2-3 posters on this thread saying it?
ANd I hope you don't just single out this thrread. There are others in which some posters fel the same thing that we are. Just keep ignoring all of them?
Lay off the acid buddy. You hallucinating again? LMAO at the "whiny" comment.
We need, IMHO, two veteran corners; a FS; a RT; a true #2 WR; and possibly an OG. And this assumes no major injuries in camp & early season.
My prayer & hope lies in the offense rebounding under HC Shurmur. We have weapons that create matchup problems (Odell double teamed; Engram on a S or LB is a mis-match most times; Barkley will not only run it well but 60+ catches should be there for the taking; etc. The OL is a big question mark & so is WR #2.
If this offense can stay healthy and the younger OL's develop we will be competitive during the season.
I see Dallas & Washington struggling and the Eagles the division winner.
Go Giants!
