The lack of depth is very concerning. Due to his speed and athleticism I am hoping that Teddy Williams surprises and is this year's Cockrell. Hopefully one of these young UDFA CB's they just picked up can solidify the nickelback spot. As of today I think Gay and Deayon are the 3rd and 4th CB's.
DB or CB? 2 of Apple, Thompson, Gay, Adams I suppose are 3rd/4th DB
you know, other than DRC basically the same exact group from one of the top secondaries in football a couple years ago. They could certainly use more depth but there are a lot of teams around the league who wish they had Jenkins and Collins as their 1 + 2.
IMO. This defense needs quick press corners, think old bump and run, they need speed to recover and chase. CBs are not anywhere near the value in this scheme that they are in the 4-3 we ran. You need scrappy quick guys who can be disruptive, there shouldn't be oodles of time to throw.
all of these guys have been scrubs. Some of them have already been with several teams in their career. I don't know where they can find more quality. But I see this as a real red flag. Same goes for WR.......I'm worried about who's there if any starter go down.
Not so sure about Gay, who's a bit long in the tooth. One of the smurfs should stick, Deayon or Haley. I think Aaron Davis has a good shot to stick, too.
So do I. I guess Gettleman didn't believe that Cockrell was a good fit for the new scheme.
