They just updated their app on iPhone this morning (first time in a loooong time). Huge difference maker IMO. So easy to search and find content and they are now integrating video with Howard Stern 360 and i'm sure they will push more video for other personalities moving forward.
Not sure what interests you have but there is a large variety of content to choose from. You can try it out for cheap I think there are deal for $30 for 90 days or something like that. Give it a shot!
purchased the equipment yet, make sure you get a receiver that can pick up both Sirius and XM content. Mine came with the car and is limited in that regard. It may not be an issue anymore but was a few years ago.
But when they were separate companies they used different tecnonlogy to deliver their signals. Each had exclusive content as well. That’s why there are different channels for the same sports programs depending on whether your original equipment was Sirius or XM. Their tiered packages still reflect the original exclusives but if you subscribe to all access you’ll get all programming and streaming for the app. The best deal I’ve found for that is $99 for 12 months. Other people may know of better deals but that one ensures all programming and streaming.
Sirius is the a 'seperate' company, basically still around for the old "Lifetime" subs they sold back in the day. Instead of giving those lifetime subscribers everything, they add the new stuff to the combined entity but grandfather lifetime subs to the Sirius entity. It's an oversimplification.
Sirius - if all you care about is Howard
SiriusXM - everything else
Then when they merged my fave music stations were altered (disappeared) and all of a sudden their current channels were filled with babbling DJ's and more advertisements and the same bands and songs. It was like listening to crap radio but for like $15 a month.
I did like the MLB games and the NY and Dallas sports radio broadcasts. And originally it was a great place to stumble into new bands and songs to listen to.
It was (maybe still is) a nightmare to cancel. They kept trying to bill me months after I canceled and after I called Abu Dhabi help desk to sort it a few times.
and love it. My wife just got a trial subscription for a year for $60.
For music, you can't beat it. Turn to the genre you like and get music without the commercials. Believe me, after a month of no commercials, if you then listen to a regular broadcast station you wonder how you got along without satellite radio for so long. Then there are the sports channels, comedy channels, news channels, etc.
very early(2004) and am still a very happy subscriber. There was some uncertainty and a bit of upheaval when the two companies merged(thus SiriusXM) but since then it's been invaluable for me. Especially if you're in a car for any extended period of time. I used to have to travel for work and those long 7+ hour drives to Buffalo... couldn't imagine doing them without the satellite radio.
I got three radios all on a family plan with my main radio on a lifetime plan(back when they were still offering them. Best $500 I ever spent). Check out the comprehensive channel lineup, sports options, and exclusive content channels like the dedicated artist channels featuring Tom Petty, The Beatles, Elvis, and a recent one, Fleetwood Mac. You really can't go wrong.
