with the Sox playing reasonably well. They were playing bad teams, but they were playing roughly .500 ball. We, by contrast, were playing good teams and reeling off winning streaks. But yes, they're still a good team and a dangerous team. If they stay healthy, particularly their rotation, they can be very competitive and give us a run for our money, especially if our rotation has health problems.
are still no joke. Sale is amazing and Betts is killing it. Should be a good series!
Sale isn't appearing in this series. Pomeranz, Price, Porcello. The first two are very favorable pitching matchups for us, and we have CC going against Porcello in the third game.
its my 50th BDay today and my Brother is in from Israel with his wife, Gonna bring over take-out Chinese and enjoy the ballgame. Me and the bro are going tomorrow night. This rivalry reminds me of the 70's when I was a kid. I think after that last series there is some genuine heat between the 2 like it should be. Love having Sevi and Tanakasan ready to go right out of the gate.
and until last year and the "rise of the tankers" it was pretty successful, because it kept an extra 3-4 teams competitive until the last couple weeks of the season.
should be a great series. Can't wait for tonight Â
* gotta like the pitching match up. Seve usually comes out nasty in a return match with a team that beat him
* Yanks big guys looked a little impatient, pull happy against CLE. When they take, or go to the opposite field with that low and away pitch, they are dangerous. When they try to jack it, they are K machines. Need El Gary to snap out of his mini-funk.
* it will be interesting to see if they try to exact revenge right away, or wait until a more opportune time.
* I expect 2 out of 3 minimum, tied for first by Thursday night. A sweep would be gravy.

You're missing out on some awesome ALCS matchups. Dodgers/giants
yanks/sox
mets/nats

Potentially yes, but at this point NYY/Houston is a pretty good matchup too, as is NYY/Cleveland (or either team vs. the Sox). You just get the drama a round earlier.

A sweep would be an appropriate gift, methinks.

I'm going friday night vs oakland.
Thanks Keith. Our dad passed away when we were young and he's 3 years older so growing up and into adulthood we are like best friends. He moved to Israel 20 years ago. comes in just about every year, we try to get out to a game when he comes but the last few years it hasn't worked out that they were home. We've been to a ton of games over the years even went on some Big Blue Travel trips back in the early 90's. It will be fun. Yea taking the kids out Saturday too for Didi Bat day (my daughter's favorite player)
started when Lou Piniella ran over Fisk at HP. Gammons also has a cool pick on his twitter feed from what he says was the worst brawl between the 2 teams in '73. Link - ( New Window )
Being held hostage in New England for the past 50 years, I have the added burden of listening to the Sox announcers for the play by play. Last year Ekersley gave us credit for noghing.

good stuff. The '73 was Munson vs. Fisk colliding at the plate. Classic. But '76 was more visious, Nettles not only ripping Bill Lee's arm out of the socket, but then popping him in the face when he went to yell at him about it! Good times.
old baseball game without the HBPs, mound charges and suspensions.
Agree completely. That's what I loved most about the Houston series - two good teams getting after it, with none of that other nonsense. If the benches do clear, I hope Judge finds Joe Kelly and heaves him into the bleachers.

Maybe I'm wrong but I can't imagine the Sox have too many guys that would want to have Judge, Stanton, Sanchez, Betances coming at them in a brawl

And Tyler Austin ain’t no little guy either. Watching the replay from when he charged, Kelly was backing away pretty quickly
It's great the rivalry is back. Not that I've ever liked the Sox, but these are 2 of the best teams in baseball so things have definitely turned back up a notch.
Severino's confidence has to be sky high after a complete game shutout. Let's hope for a repeat performance!
Am excited about how Yanks have played so far... Â
I knew Didi was having a good year, but he is leading the team in:
- BA: .311
- HR: 10
- RBIs: 30
- Runs: 27
He was expected to have year, but this is Wow. Particularly when you see the star players in the Yankees lineup that he is out hitting (e.g., Judge, Stanton, Sanchez)
Lisinopril, 5 mg every day.
They sure seem like the best two teams in mlb right now. It would be sad of we missed out on a Yanks/Sawks ALCS because of a fluke one-off game.

its a major oversight by MLB
if the two best teams in the league are in the same division they CANNOT play in the wildcard

Im just grateful they were able to save the leg
Fucking candy ass

I thought that devastating injury at second base might cost him his career.

Lucky for him the Mets doctors aren't on the case or he'd now be called Stumpy :-)

And he knows his pitching staff will throw at a guy a dozen times until they hit someone to back him up!

6.14 ERA? (but you're probably right)
Childish Bambino.
lol
Destroy them.

...but I ain't getting too jazzed over a home series against the BoSox this early in the season.
Hell we could get swept but eventually run away with the division, or vice versa. Who knows?
But 3 games in early May? I ain't gonna get too high or too low. Just doesn't matter right now!
