| I was as big a proponent of that signing as anyone here last year - after seeing what transpired on the field, I think it's safe to say we won't be missing much.
What transpired last year wasn't all his fault. I just didn't see a guy who was really battling out there. He seemed like he was just kinda running around at 3/4 speed, looking lost, and when a ball would come his way, he'd drop it.
After the preseason game against CLE, he seemed like he didn't want much to do with contact either.
It's a young man's game. We can probably get similar production from Cody Latimer at this point as crazy as that sounds
I’m with ya arc. I thought signing him was going to be one of the more underrated off-season signings in the league last year. Not only for what seemed to be a perfect match skill wise (having a huge possession type WR opposite OBJ) but also be a good locker room presence (particularly for OBJ). He was one of the many moves that appeared to be a solid upgrade over what was there the year before (including #2 TE, FS,MLB and even RB). But alas, Reese decided to not only try to upgrade... but didn’t even have a friggin backup plan... for the O-line if they continued to struggle. To me that was inexcusable and is why I think he should’ve not only been fired after last season but probably should’ve been let go when Coughlin was in hindsight.
IMO, not having ANY kind of backup plan for the O-Line (specifically the T position)... poor coaching, and even more poor leadership... and the D thinking they were the ‘86 Giants D before stepping on last year (see previously stated poor leadership) is what doomed the team last year. What made last year so devastating wasn’t just the horrible season record wise but how promising it looked to a very large majority of the fans and media after the off season the Giants had... still scratching my head at what looked so good turned into something so bad.
