Matt Millen very ill

with a disease called Amyloidosis, in which a protein attacks one's organs, in Matt's case his heart. Peter King highlighted Matt's case in today's MMQB. He was an outstanding player, one with 4 SB rings, and a significantly less successful NFL executive with the Lions.

I got to know Matt a bit when I worked for CBS Radio, and he did games for us with Jack Buck. He was a very nice guy, smart, and carried no airs about him. I wish him the best in his battle against this terrible disease.

is actually battling the same thing, which is attacking his gastrointestinal system. All I can say is fuck cancer... it is ruthless.

Read that piece a few days ago...he called the Barkley pick for a while. Seems like a genuine guy. I hope he recovers.

the autopsy of Robin Williams indicated a similar disease affecting (proteins attacking) his brain. He had been falsely diagnosed with Parkinson's previously.

Sad stuff.

He was a great college player, a good pro and the best of the early wave of John Madden impersonators That FOX hired to fill out their broadcasting teams once they wrestled away the NFC from CBS. Remember : Mass, Green, Ballinger et al? They all tried to emulate Big John.

The stint with Lions didn�t go well. But who cares now? Are prayers are with him and the family
