Sounds like Clint Frazier is on his way to join the Yankees.

BREAKING NEWS: @clintfrazier is joining the @Yankees in DC. No word on roster moves. #Yankees
for Cole or Hale, I'm sure
Greg from LI : 5/15/2018 11:40 am : link
works for me
Hopefully he brings
dune69 : 5/15/2018 11:40 am : link
that hot bat with him.
Awesome.
Ryan in Albany : 5/15/2018 11:40 am : link
Hicks getting benched?
Nice!
bceagle05 : 5/15/2018 11:41 am : link
Hopefully it's not just a cameo during interleague play.
Hope they're not bringing him up
Ryan in Albany : 5/15/2018 11:43 am : link
for a couple games.
...and then sending him back down.
Ryan in Albany : 5/15/2018 11:44 am : link
.
If Hicks is sitting down for a game or two
Greg from LI : 5/15/2018 11:46 am : link
it will be for Gardner, not Frazier. Frazier is not starting in CF and they aren't going to put Stanton on the bench in an NL park for Frazier.
Enjoy those rainouts, Clint!
bceagle05 : 5/15/2018 11:46 am : link
.
It would make no sense.
Nysportsfn13 : 5/15/2018 12:06 pm : link
to bring him up for only 2 games vs the Nationals, especially when Stanton is going to be playing LF since there is no DH. unless Judge is going to be playing CF.

I think this has more to do with Hicks not hitting anything at all right now.
With Gio on the mound tonight
Kyle in NY : 5/15/2018 12:08 pm : link
Maybe Judge gets a game in CF with Frazier in LF and Stanton in RF
Should have

Crazy power in the OF tonight.

The forecast calls for scattered thunderstorms hitting the area starting around 5 or so. Almost the same forecast for Wednesday too.

Given the major downpours we had yesterday, heavy rains might make the field unplayable.

Thats what I'm thinking too.
I tend to agree that he's here to stay for awhile.
bceagle05 : 5/15/2018 12:11 pm : link
If Stanton's the everyday DH, Judge/Gardy/Hicks/Frazier can be the four OFs. That's what they would've done if Ellsbury was healthy on opening day (substitute him for Clint).

You don't want a top prospect like Clint riding the pine at the big league level (as Ellsbury would have), so I'd imagine they have some kind of plan to get him regular at-bats - Hicks has been dreadful against lefties and Gardy could use an extra day off here or there.
I don't think Stanton wants to be an everyday DH, though

The Nats plan of having Scherzer pitch on Wednesday, so there really isn't a good matchup against him- he K'd 15 in his last outing.
I knew he would be up soon
DennyInDenville : 5/15/2018 12:34 pm : link
Just didn't think today.

This likely means Gardy sits today, Judge or Frazier in CF today

Hopefully, Frazier is here for good , and he takes ABs away from Hicks and Gardy
This likely means Gardy AND Hicks*
DennyInDenville : 5/15/2018 12:35 pm : link
Sit tonight.
Fantastic.

That would make for a subpar defensive outfield

Yeah, I'm not sure I'm following the plan here.
although I guess we're about to see a bunch of LHPs -
Del Shofner : 5/15/2018 1:01 pm : link
this is from RAB (although about Stanton) -

"The good news is the Yankees are scheduled to face a lefty tonight (Gio Gonzalez), two more lefties this weekend in Kansas City (Danny Duffy, Eric Skoglund), and another lefty next week in Texas (Cole Hamels). Stanton crushes lefties and the Yankees are going to see some the next few days."

Of course it makes sense. You need bats to pinch hit for the pitchers spots. We basically have none carrying the amount of pitchers that we do. they will send one down and Frazier will be here as that bat off the bench.

Del Shofner : 5/15/2018 1:06 pm : link
Good point about the pinch hitters.

Thanks - that helps explain it. I love Hicks defense, but he’s not really hitting lefties at all so far this season. Frazier will have several chances to play

has rumblings of Aaron Hicks going to the DL with a muscle strain. Haven't seen it reported officially yet.

That would be the most logical explanation. It's been 10 minutes since Hicks strained a muscle, after all. Hope Clint tears the cover off the ball.
Geez Hicks simply cannot stay healthy

I like the guy but he can't be counted on
Admittedly, though, the RAB rumblings

are from an unfounded source - so let's all stand by for now.
Sorry to miller with fantasy question
Metnut : 5/15/2018 1:21 pm : link
but do you guys think he'll get enough ABs to add to a fantasy team? It's a "keep forever" league (6 keepers each) so if he turns into a stud, the upside is huge. I'd have to drop Matt Adams or Mikhail Franco to add him.

It looks like he's raking in AAA, but he's also still striking out a ton and his babip is off the charts high. Is there a path to every day ABs for him in 2017 if he can hit?

Read too quickly, we will see what's up
I haven't seen anything on Hicks
Beer Man : 5/15/2018 2:48 pm : link
But the article on mlb.com (Yankees.com) said the team is bringing up Clint because they are playing in an NL park, where there is no DH, and consequently need an extra bat on the bench.
It would be wrong to bring up Frazier for a couple of games.
manh george : 5/15/2018 2:59 pm : link
The kid just has too high a ceiling to be messing with his head. If they needed a player for a few games, Drury seems close to ready.

Pretty soon, I think Drury comes up, and Andujar goes back for more work on his batting eye. Great swing, if only he knew where the plate is. It's so hard to keep in mind that Drury is only 2 1/2 years older than Andujar. If he gets fully healthy, the Yanks clearly believe that he would be an important starter, and Andujar at 23 has time.
I think they may be worried a bit with Drury ...
Beer Man : 5/15/2018 3:24 pm : link
They will probably have to DFA or trade someone when they bring him up, which is a risk if they are worried Drury's migraines could return.
Drury himself just said (yesterday, I think) that he is not ready yet.
Del Shofner : 5/15/2018 3:29 pm : link
It's a weird ailment, an inflamed tendon in his neck or something like that - but he says he still sometimes has blurred vision and is not yet 100%.

Not to mention, he might be the more attractive trade piece. Of course, we gotta see Drury hit a little more, but his versatility might make him stick with the Yanks and Andujar the trade piece should we decide to go grab that SP at some point.
Hicks is in the lineup tonight,
Mad Mike : 5/15/2018 3:48 pm : link
so presumably it's an NL park move, nothing to do with Hicks.
Guys, don't get all excited...
BC Eagles94 : 5/15/2018 3:49 pm : link
I would be SHOCKED if Clint is here for more than the 2 NL games...where we need the extra bat due to pinch-hitting pitchers.

Clint is really the only healthy guy to bring up as a bat. Most everyone else on the 40 is on DL (Bird, Ellsbury & McKinney) or still recovering from injuries while playing (Drury & Thairo). Only other two healthy bats on the 40 are C Higgy and IF Wade. And if you bring a bat up for 2 games, who would you want of those 3? Pretty clear answer to that one.

With a lefty on the mound...I would expect Stanton in LF, Gardy on the bench, and Austin as the 1B.
