wasn't their rumblings of him on PED's when he was with the Yankees.
Some tv sports anchor in NC or someplace created a bit of a twitter firestorm 6 or 7 years ago then when he posted on twitter that he heard a suspension for Cano was being announced that day. It never happened, his station forced him to post an apology, then fired him.
He was on the fast track to the HOF. I guess he still might be if voter attitudes change by the time he's eligible. How is it he got 80 games? Isn't that for a second offense?
Yes. Makes me wonder if he was in an appeals process, and decided to drop it and start serving his suspension since he’s out a month or two already now

Since 2014 it's been 80 games the first time. 162 the second time.

Actually, reading the story here, it sounds like he wasn’t appealing Link - ( New Window )
why he gets to serve the suspension while on the DL? That's what's being reported but I don't get how that works.
The suspension is to punish the player, not the team. So whether he is on DL or not, it doesn't matter. Either way he'll be losing a half season's worth of pay, which in this case is over 11 million.
He was probably going to have a Yankees hat when he was inducted into the Hall of Fame and now making it to Cooperstown is "questionable" at best. His contract was already guaranteed and he was well on his way to the Hall of Fame... what a stupid way to sully a great career. Damn.

we’ll never know how great his career would have been up to this point without the PEDs though
Was a skinny second baseman with a great batting average but no where near the power he miraculously discovered around the age of 26. He has probably been juicing for a very long time and just failed to cheat out the test this time for some reason or another. His power came out of no where imv.

That's not really accurate at all. Yes, his power increased over time, but it hardly came out of nowhere. He hit 14 homers and slugged .460 as a 22 year old. At 24 he hit 19 and slugged .488. This "miracle" you speak of was a jump all the way to 25 and .520 at age 26 and 29 and .534 at age 27. Meaningful increases to be sure, but nothing unusual for players entering their mid 20's. His power progression is really quite natural and hardly matches the jumps we see with some obvious users.
Say it Ain't so! wow another DR player busted right after he came back from the off season in DR. Yea we know you were taking it for a case of the sniffles Robbie.
We may not like to admit it, but it’s fair to bring up how ARod, Melky and Cano were BFFs with the Yanks, even though that alone proves nothing.
The story also explains he tested positive for the diuretic (a banned masking agent) over the offseason. This didn’t just happen, only that the union just dropped its appeal, so the suspension becomes public now
“But understand the process under the Joint Drug Program between MLB and the union: Cano was tested in the Dominican during the offseason. When a positive is shown for a banned diuretic/masking agent such as Furosemide, the case goes to the Independent Program Administrator Thomas Martin. His investigation determined Cano was using the diuretic to mask PED use. Then MLB investigated and found the same.” Link - ( New Window )

To be fair, his career followed a more "normal" path of a star as opposed to him putting up ridiculous numbers in his mid to late 30s like Bonds/Manny Ramirez/David Ortiz or completely out of the ordinary numbers at any point in his career. Even his power surge at the age of 33 is in line with many pre-steroid era Hall of Famers. Unfortunately, anyone who now wants to doubt his entire career is given license to.
RE: My guess is he used more advanced masking agent Â
It would be bad PR for them but there is a breach maybe material and certainly bad faith behavior on Cano's part. Imagine the players who have pulled the wool over the owners eyes in seeking these massive contracts.
Wonder what Clubhouse lawyer Jansen has to say about players cheating the system in hopes of boosting their payday
I never remember Cano being "skinny". He was always a little pudgy Â
He never slugged below .488 after his rookie season. His power spiked a bit in his late 20s because those are the prime seasons of a hitters' career, particularly 27-29. BTW, what else happened in his age 26 season? The Yankees moved into NYS, which was more of a launch pad for lefty hitters than the old stadium.
1) Is this really a surprise?
2) I don't like his excuse any more than I did the BS that Ortiz passed off.
3) If I'm not mistake, wasn't A-Rod's last suspension put on hold until after he was eligible to come off the DL? Or was that not technically a PED suspension, so subject to different rules?
That's what I'm saying. I believe he probably has access to an undetectable masking agent in the states, but resorted to this in the Dominican republic. PED use is rampant and it's only when someone makes a dumb mistake that they're caught, imv.
Nelson Cruz is not a good influence.
Probably ruins Seattle's chances of ending their playoff drought too.

Definitely offering Stanozolol from a pez dispenser in that clubhouse.

All PED suspensions carry a post-season ban for that year.
it's only when they are combined it starts to be a problem.
Because he's losing 11 million bananas.

At least the postseason rule has some ramifications.
