I am hoping that the Yankees use the 23rd overall pick for a starting LHP or a catcher. Some possibilities:
LHP Shane MacClanahan-South Florida
LHP Ryan Rolison- Univ of Mississippi
LHP Ryan Weathers-HS (son of former Yankee David)
C- Noah Naylor HS from Canada
Other thoughts for the Yankees top pick?
My guess is that the Yanks send Seigler to Tampa Rookie ball and Breaux to SI.
Given what is in front of them, they could move as fast as their defensive skills allow.
The position of Catcher was badly in need of re-stocking.
Pleased with these moves.

Breaux has big time power and would make for some bleacher creature fun.
I think they wanted to get a catcher out of the first few rounds of the draft and Seigler certainly fits the bill. Not that they drafted for need, just that given a choice between a couple guys on a similar tier the position (premium anyway) may have pushed him over the edge vis a vis, say, Casas. I doubt Breaux had anything to do with position; he had as much power as anyone available at that point in time.
Boy, is that ever welcome news after such a trying season this year. It will be great to see Vasil and Neeck reestablish the pitching dominance we used to be known for. If they actually get Siani on top of that, that's one incredible recruiting class.

Looks like Siani may end up on campus too, and Neeck is a strong possibility. I wouldn't have thought we'd bring the entire 2018 signing class to campus, but we've got a strong shot to do so.

Andrew Abbott, a Yankee draftee last year, was far and away their best reliever this year, with dominant peripherals. I'll be interested to see if he starts next year.
From the predraft reports he sounded like a guy who, assuming he stays healthy, is a major leaguer or flames out in the low minors

Big time power for a prep, big arm, average speed, hit tool is developing. Vandy commit so expect an overslot bonus.

IDK, we'll see. Supposedly made more contact this spring, if the hit tool has come along he could be a nice prospect. Fangraphs says premium speed, MLB.com says average speed. Who knows?

Frank German dominated the Atlantic Sun this season. He's got a FB 92-94 that touches 96. Slurvey breaking ball that could be an average pitch if he sharpens it up a bit more consistently.

GERMAN HAS A SOLID THREE-PITCH MIX THAT POINTS TO A FUTURE AS A STARTING PITCHER AT THE NEXT LEVEL. HELL THROW HIS FASTBALL IN THE 90-94 MPH RANGE AND MAINTAINS HIS VELOCITY, ABLE TO REACH BACK FOR THAT 94 LATE IN STARTS WHEN HE NEEDS IT. HIS BREAKING BALL IS CLOSE TO A 12-TO-6 CURVE WITH LATE AND SHARP BREAK TO IT AND HE THROWS AN EFFECTIVE MID-80S CIRCLE CHANGE THAT HAS THE BOTTOM FALL OUT OF IT. HE COMMANDS ALL THREE PITCHES WELL AND HAS THROWN A LOT MORE STRIKES, WHILE MISSING MORE BATS, THIS YEAR COMPARED TO HIS SOPHOMORE SEASON.
GERMAN HAS A LIMITED CEILING, THAT OF A NO. 4 OR 5 STARTER. BUT HIS PERFORMANCE IN HIS DRAFT SEASON HAS HAD MORE THAN GSA VOTERS TAKE NOTICE, GIVING HIM A GOOD CHANCE TO BECOME THE FIRST NORTH FLORIDA PITCHER TO GO IN THE TOP SIX ROUNDS SINCE THE TIGERS TOOK TYLER STOHR IN 2008.

NM, 2018 stats just not up on Baseball Cube yet. 2.36 ERA over 76.1 IP, 108:31 K:BB in 2018. Probably a rotation stalwart for SI.
And how many catchers can you play at one time?

You can always choose to not enjoy it as well. The hit rate on young guys going into MLB is low, this is universally understood to even the casual baseball fan. That being said, you need to draft multiple players at positions with the understanding most will fail.

Breaux is a bat first. Seigler is a legit catching prospect, the best prep receiver in the draft. I don't think the redundancy is an issue. Green could be a stud too.
Seigler and Breaux sound interesting, as does Green. Hope we get them signed.

You can bank on all three, barring something in the medicals. They discuss bonus in advance, there is too much at stake to risk failure. The difficult signs will probably be tomorrow.
Unless there is a legit accusation of bad faith, they would have to wait until the next year.

He has a shot to be a Top 3 round pick next year, it'd be a reasonable gamble to come back.

Rangers picked Cameron Simmons in the 15th round. Cross your fingers that he comes back, because the Hoos will need him.

College Seniors usually don't go that high. The question is whether $125K now is worth the shot at being the one or two seniors who get above that next year, but if you gamble incorrectly you are looking at 1/10 of that number
I was thinking he was a DES, my mistake. Yeah in his case it probably makes more sense to sign.
