Sheesh sorry. My brain got ahead of my writing. The “non” in my post was me thinking non-serious, not non Hodgkins..It just came out that way. Hodgkins patients do quite well, like 8 or 9 out of 10 survival..

he's through the most hectic, demanding part of the year and can focus all his energy on his treatment.

Best wishes to Dave!

he was a scheduled guest for tonight's Town Hall meeting in Manhattan, but has now been removed from the guest list (replaced by our OC and DC).

I was really looking forward to hearing him speak, but obviously more disappointed reading this news.
Hang in

Tough smart guy and wish him the best.
TMS : 6/5/2018 2:02 pm : link
Kevin Abrams learned under him and is a very capable to share the load. Keeping him was a smart move by the organization if this is new news, which I doubt. DG wants to leave as a Giant which most of us understand if that is the case
Wishes for a full and quick recovery.

news. I love how dedicated he is to the team even during a health scare like this, but part of me feels like a Leave of Absence and appointment of interim GM is best for him. That way he can take a step back and get healthy. Best wishes.
wow
giantfan2000 : 6/5/2018 2:14 pm : link
pray for his full recovery..

unfortunately he is 67 which makes lymphoma a much more serious cancer
A lot of lymphomas are treatable,
81_Great_Dane : 6/5/2018 2:22 pm : link
but not curable. A relative of mine was diagnosed with lymphoma a few years back. He was in his mid-50s. He went through chemo and is in remission. They told him something to the effect of "We can hold this off for about 10 years. And there are new treatments coming online all the time." So he might outlive the 10 years, especially if some of the new therapies become available.
Best wishes to Dave and his family.

I had non hodgkins lymphoma....in my bone a tumor about the size of
fredgbrown : 6/5/2018 3:10 pm : link
cantaloupe in left hip also one the size of golf ball in the shoulder and in my bone marrow. It recurred twice but nothing since 2000 after chemo and radiation. I have had other complications but not return of cancer so far... I was much younger and able to fight off most things so I hope he responds good to the treatment.
Awful

I meant Hodgkins type
asa rule hodgkinsa younger persons disease with an 80% or so cure rate
plato : 6/5/2018 3:29 pm : link
At Mr Gettleman's age Non HL more likely with a considerably lower %cure. A lot depends on the histology and the extent of involvement of the disease. Best we can do is pray for his health, survival, and well being.
Besides having huge consequences for Mr G and his family, there will be huge reprucussions for his and our Giant family.

This is true. My relative spoke often of having "chemo brain," which is a general fogginess. He really couldn't work while undergoing treatment. I believe he also called it "cancer brain" as he didn't feel right before treatment, either.

Very sad..

wishing the best to DG. Sandy Alderson got a cancer diagnosis in 2015 at 68 and went through chemo. I don’t know what he had & obviously do not know the severity of what DG has.

Wishing him the best.

Sorry to hear about your Dad Eric. I wish him the best and pray for his recovery.
I feel terrible for the guy

The cancer is bad enough, but to have it pop up on him just after he got back on his feet and rolling again, that really sucks.

Best wishes to him for a full and speedy recovery.
