was really impressed with the type of pitcher monty was becoming. Thought he would be more then solid back end of rotation guy who could eat innings and keep them in games.
kind of shocked by this, recent history shows it has mostly been young, power arms that go down and need TJ. Monty is already 25 yrs old, does not have much injury history and is more of a finesse pitcher.
I am afraid his recovery may be more in doubt then the average TJ.
sheffield maybe can come up in a month or so. But the only reason they should trade for anyone would be for a frontline stud. if that guy isn't available just sit tight
RE: german has not been atrocious for a 5th starter

I agree with this thinking but they might try and hedge their bets now for a serviceable starter and not risk someone else going down even for a little while and then the price tag goes way up.
Chance Adams, Thairo Estrada, Tyler Austin/Wade (their choice) plus we can toss in Ellsbury... lol jk about Ellsbury , I wish
Red Thunder is safe in a Hamels deal imo
I'm curious what it will really take to land Hamels. An aging starter who is a rental. Wouldn't think it would take a whole lot, but all comes down to supply and demand. If their are a bunch of teams interested, that will drive up the price. But I think your package would be more than enough...Chance Adams, Thairo Estrada, Tyler Austin/Wade. No way Hamels commands any top prospects. Would be selling low on that whole package though...Adams, Estrada, and Wade all having tough years so far.
I've wanted to land Hamels all year. We've stayed enough under the luxury tax threshold to absorb a salary like that. So we can absorb all the money which helps a bit on the prospects having to go the other way. I just don;t want to give up too much for him. But that is what we I'd say for any trade.
It does but you know the Mets are going to start with wanting Gleyber. Once Cash shoots that down Andujar would be their next choice to start the trade.
Gleyber is untouchable IMO and Miggy is pretty close to that level for me. If the Yanks can find enough without giving up either of those two, I'm all for getting DeGrom, even if it means giving up Frazier who I think plays into the Yanks future big time starting next year.
Hopefully Justus Sheffield gets a look before we do anything too aggressive on the trade market.
Sheffield is our future. I dont want him up till late this year and then keep him off the playoff roster. Go get Fulmer from Det (who I think will have a Garrett Vole resurgence with a good team).
Playoff SP
Sevy
Tanaka
CC
Gray
Fulmer
The Coupons would never, ever give the Yankees a fair deal for DeGrom. It would have to be a massive overpay. Would love to get DeGrom, but not under those conditions.
Lets just get Cole Hamels in here and see what he can do for us..
German to the pen as our Long Man.
Very simple.
Agreed they better not.
A realistic package for Hamels IMO would be
Chance Adams, Thairo Estrada, Tyler Austin/Wade (their choice) plus we can toss in Ellsbury... lol jk about Ellsbury , I wish

Yep, I just saw that, too. There's some good news. Oh, and of course, fuck ESPN.

Keep trotting German out there. Fly Pedro in for a talk, he could be Severino-lite.
But, see what Sheffield can do before trading for anyone I say.
Right on Austin. Evaluating him is one of Baseball's little I.Q. tests.

for Hamels. Just bring up Sheffield in July.

Maybe something like Florial, Torres, Frazier gets it done, but no way Cashman does that.
