"Giants with the most explosive trio in NFL history"

KWALL2 : 6/6/2018 4:33 pm
This little gem comes from KWALL jr. 11 year old draftnik. Although he's a Steeler fan he threw out this line on the way to school today.

So is it true?

In terms of 10, 20, and 40 splits, vertical and 3 cone? I couldn't think of anything that matches this trio.

Can you? Has there ever been a team with more explosive speed at these 3 positions?

When you think of NFL Trio, you think of QB, RB and WR
NYG27 : 6/6/2018 4:42 pm : link
So when you say most explosive, you're not talking about Eli.
Odell, Saquon
CT Charlie : 6/6/2018 4:42 pm : link
and Eli?
instead of dealing
pjcas18 : 6/6/2018 4:44 pm : link
in unprovable platitudes, maybe you can explain how kwall jr became a Steelers fan?

Not throwing stones, just curious. I wound up with 3 Boston bruins fans in my house, living in metro Boston when I grew up in CT and not a Bruins fan, and it pains me.

He didn't mention the players. I'm just guessing Barkley, Engram and Odell (RB, WR, TE)

Maybe Odell, Sterling and Saquon (RB, WR, WR)
WOW

your son is a Steelers fan? Horrible!
I'd be shocked if all this happened, but if they are all healthy ?
SGMen : 6/6/2018 4:48 pm : link
I can see the following:

OBJ 100 - 1400 - 8 TD
Shepard 80 - 1050 - 6 TD
Engram 75 - 1000 - 8 TD
Saquon 75- 700 - 3 TD receiving, 250- 1300 - 10 TD

If this happened, that means Eli had a very good year and we were moving the ball on most anyone we faced.
This is all great
81_Great_Dane : 6/6/2018 4:51 pm : link
but can we maybe let Barkley play a few downs in the NFL first?

No. His bust is already in Canton.

Hahahahaha...you and these predictions of yours. That's 4150 yards passing to only 3 players. A very good year indeed. Jesus.

2100 all purpose yards for Barkley in his rookie year.

TE, WR, RB
KWALL2 : 6/6/2018 5:09 pm : link
Thats the trio.

Engram is one of the fastest TE ever.
Barkley has the 99% Sparq score and ran an elite time.
Beckham is Beckham.

All have elite verticals and splits.

I can't think of a more explosive group. The TE tilts it our way.

It is amazing to think about the potential. What is a Sparq score?
Clark James and harrison

We’re pretty good. If you don’t include a TE... Faulk, Bruce, Holt were probably the best all time.

Rice, Jones, waters/Craig is another good one.

But if a poll was taken...

Emitt, Irvin, novacek would probably win.

In this universe, just how many passes per game does Eli throw? Because you are projecting 330 receptions by these four players alone. That's about 21 receptions per game, which would imply (based on Eli's historical completion rate of 60%) 35 passes per game just to these four guys.
After last year, I am going to wait before I get excited
George from PA : 6/6/2018 6:26 pm : link
I like the potential
Does it need to include a TE?
Mike from SI : 6/6/2018 7:09 pm : link
Because I'll take Faulk, Isaac Bruce, and Torry Holt. Moss, Carter, and Robert Smith weren't bad either.
A lot of those WRs you mention?
KWALL2 : 6/6/2018 7:25 pm : link
Engram is faster including Issac Bruce and Carter.

TE Jones on 49ers isn't close to this class. Barkley more explosive then Craig too.

Irvin and Novacek vs Beckham and Engram? I'd take our guys as straight up football players. About speed and explosion? Not close. NYG in a landslide.

WR, TE, RB? That's the trio that can attack a field in many ways. Never before, has an NFL team had a more explosive group.

Clark, James, Harrison
KWALL2 : 6/6/2018 7:26 pm : link
Across the board the Giants players are more explosive. A TE it isn't close.

Kwall2. Congrats on having a son so interested in the Giants.

I wonder about the age of a lot of BBI posters.

A lot of them don't seem to have the smarts of your 11-year-old. Their posts suggest that they are either prepubescent, or just dumb as door knobs.

As for the most explosive Giant: that has to be JPP hands down (or hands up or off). ;-)
Its nice to dream and speculate
Beer Man : 6/6/2018 7:51 pm : link
and the enormous potential is certainly there. But lets not get carried away just yet. These guys haven't played a down together yet.

KWALL2 : 6/6/2018 7:55 pm : link
I missed your question about Sparq. It’s a formula that includes speed, size, strength that is based on the measurables from the combine drills.

Barkley is in rare company with his score.

Lattimer is also a guy with a high Sparq score. He’s a big WR who can run and jump.
KWALL
mrvax : 6/6/2018 8:08 pm : link
I did Google it. Pretty cool. But... in 4 years, Lattimer's score didn't translate into production. Let's hope that changes with new scenery.

Engram is faster than Bruce
KWALL2 : 6/6/2018 8:28 pm : link
Bruce was more about quicks and sharp cuts. His speed was only avg for the position. Over 4.5.
Mrvax
KWALL2 : 6/6/2018 8:31 pm : link
Latimer will get the matchups. He’ll give us a few big plays.

If OL holds up Giants will be a top scoring offense.

SFGFNCGiantsFan : 6/6/2018 8:31 pm : link
I like Engram, but he needs to work on the drops.

Saquon hasn't even played a down in the league yet.

Odell is special. He just needs to stay healthy.

G-crew18 : 6/6/2018 9:42 pm : link
Barkley. Beckham and Engram. Engram is the slowest running a 4.41 all have great leaping ability, and dynamite ball skills, elusiveness. Speed kills and each is a matchup nightmare. So many are fixated on the QB, but no one seems to want to recognize Manning has spent the last 6 years under duress. The OLine has been atrocious since 2011 and all the late round picks did not pan out.

I believe that many of those who voice such negativity about our QB will be eating crow by midseason. As far as the skill position players no other team in the NFL has a triplet that can score on any given play. Manning is going to flourish under Shurmur and when it happens many will have to admit they were wrong. Only it doesn't matter because it is the wins that count.

I am looking forward, and will just rejoice on the teams success.
The Dallas TE's Novacek and Witten were slow as molasses and

Actually, they inducting his quads, not his bust!
Obviously Odell Jr.

Engram and Darkwa.
Don’t forget the rams also had wr azir akeem
djm : 6/6/2018 10:41 pm : link
That dude could fly.

Faulk, Holt, Bruce and Akeem... plus Faulk was basically the best pro rb over the last 20 years so until Barkley actually does it we give Faulk the edge in terms of Nfl athletic ability...

Gisnts have a shot to be special but these players have to be on the field together and do it first...

Minor criticism but LaDainian I think is the best pro back of the last 20 years, Fault is second. There's not a significant gap, but there is a gap.
Thurman Thomas
allstarjim : 6/6/2018 11:22 pm : link
Andre Reed, and James Lofton. That was a truly great trio, I believe only rivaled by Faulk, Bruce, and Holt.

Honestly the Browns, yes the Browns, have to be excited with what they have at the skill positions. They drafted Nick Chubb, have Jarvis Landry, Josh Gordon, an explosive but oft injured Corey Coleman, and a very athletic TE who may come into his own in his sophomore year in David Njoku.

And in terms of explosiveness, Kareem Hunt, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce has to get a mention.
we drafted
SHO'NUFF : 6/6/2018 11:50 pm : link
Lamar Jackson?
Lofton was older on the Bills
KWALL2 : 6/7/2018 12:03 am : link
Reed was an average speed guy. Excellent player but not explosive.

Kelce and Hill are certainly explosive. Hunt is a tough runner but not very explosive. 4.6+ doesn't measure up to Barkley.

Fine, 2000 all purpose for his rookie year. Eat me MAB.
Trio
stretch234 : 6/7/2018 8:49 am : link
How about strike season 1982 SD Chargers

QB - Dan Fouts - Pro bowl
RB - Chuck Muncie - Pro Bowl
WR - Wes Chandler - Pro Bowl in 8 games 49-1032 9 TD's
TE - Kellen Winslow - Pro Bowl

Fouts, Chandler and Winslow were 1st team All Pro Muncie was 2nd
Faulk-Bruce-Holt.
Section331 : 6/7/2018 9:20 am : link
I'm not sure how their 40's measure up (I know Faulk's was exceptionally fast), but in terms of pure talent, that's a tough trio to top.
