I’m late to tune in to this one, but looks like Gray with a great one
mfsd : 6/6/2018 9:42 pm : link
be a shame to waste it

I’m not worrying about the offense either, but it’s been a weird few games this week as others have said.

Not sure if there’s any one thing going on, other than a continued steady diet of breaking balls (I wouldn’t throw many fastballs against this Yanks lineup either). Sometims just have to tip your cap to the other teams’ pitchers.
Wow, especially when u get a game like this
prdave73 : 6/6/2018 9:46 pm : link
from Sonny Gray? These should be easy games. I don't get it.. smh.

At least he didn't use the ol "we don't have a monitor here in the booth" excuse.

That said I lost the ball too and did think it was out, but it disappeared into the scoreboard lights, not over the wall like I initially thought.

Monster blast by Judge!!

And Stanton looked on the ball all night, he hit a laser. I have a feeling he’s ready to go on a tear
Gotta win them in different ways I guess.
bceagle05 : 6/6/2018 10:53 pm : link
Starting to gain confidence in Sonny - he's trending upward. Bullpen was flawless. I was bracing for a Solarte/Smoak/Martin walk off kick in the balls, but the pitching staff said no.

I hope you're right about Stanton and maybe Sonny goes on a tear too. Tonight he looked like the pitcher I expected to see when they got him, and hopefully he's straightened himself out.
Stanton opened his stance...
manh george : 6/6/2018 11:16 pm : link
a few inches. He had gotten stubborn about staying closed, which worked last year, but made him look tight this year.
Amazing how important every game feels.

This season is like a six-month playoff race.
Gray giving major props to Romine in the postgame -

said he didn't shake off any calls at all tonight, just threw what Romine called and that's how he was able to work so fast.
holy crap
Gregorio : 6/7/2018 12:01 am : link
Stanton's line drive was a laser shot. They are reminiscent of Dave Winfield's lasers over the center field fence in the old Yankee stadium.
Had the game on delay....couple points:
chopperhatch : 6/7/2018 1:25 am : link
- some call games like this agonizing to watch, but both teams got great pitching. Axelford really mowed down the yanks his turn, but Green, especially Betances, esp DeeRo and especially Rolfy fucking smoked. Shut down city.

- Cant fathom possibly taking out Hicks nor Gardy. They add such a rare element to the game for us...when they are hitting, which they are starting to. Love Frazier coming up....maybe for Austin? But he needs at bats and numbers before riding our pine.

- regarding the bottom two rooks in the order and n9t....its pick ur poison. Have your middle two hitting at a low avg and your bottom two hitting high or vice versa. At this point, the lesser of two evils is leaving the kids where they are, but at least move Sanchez out of 5. He is not getting it done and has no business getting 5 spot in the line up batting .200. Drop him to 7 and get more L/R until he gets it going.

I really like him as a player...truly do. But this is a team with WS potential and its been 2 months of this. Let him figure it out, but he does not deserve the 4,5,6 spot.

This! The fact that either the Yankees or Red Sox are probably headed to a Wild Card game w/perhaps 100+ wins, makes every game so important. So,an early June game vs the Blue Jays & now the Mets, holds much more importance than usual. We can't sleep on the Mets,deGrom is arguably the best pitcher in baseball right now while Syndergaard is returning on Sunday.

It was great to see. Sorry about the tired, unenthused elderly grandma sitting next to the mom. Very happy for the solo, sign-wielding kid and his parents. An all-American moment!

Totally agree. This is a 6 month pennant race. The Sox don't let up, so neither can we. Was terrified from the 9th on that with all the heat we were throwing that one of those guys like Smoak/Hernandez/Morales was going to walk into one. Turns out our big guys did. yea it won't be easy facing DeGrom and Syndegard then Scherzer but maybe they rise to the occasion. They sure have struggled vs. 3 lesser guys the last 3 games

I can't remember a ball ever leaving a ballpark more quickly than that one did. Talk about exit velocity.
