I truly feel he needs to DH most days that Gray pitches.. he sees to much time out of the lineup imo, might have something to do with his timing being just slightly off .. maybe.
Sonny Gray I believe is gonna pitch a great game tonight, its on the road, he's pitched well in that stadium before.. 6+ innings, under 2 runs, and I'll give him 10 Ks, 2 walks.
Given how shaky our staff has been, having him get it together and pitch like last year is not only big for our rotation, but because we gave up a bunch to get him.
Eh, in retrospect the price for Gray isn t going to hurt much
....even if Gray remains disappointing. Mateo has been awful and Kaprielian hasn't pitched in a game in 2 years. He has like 55 IP over four years as a pro. I wouldn't be surprised if he never pitches again. Fowler might still turn out to be something but he didn't really have a place here anyway.
Torres and Andujar at the end of the lineup? Torres should probably be working his way toward the lead off spot and Andujar should at least be splitting Stanton and Sanchez. Might help Stanton to get some better pitches.

Not really. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
I like them exactly where they are. Let them do their thing right where they are with no pressure. Sanchez will get going and we have the lefties Bird and Didi to split up him and Stanton.
I definitely see both the rookies being more towards the top hitters but no need to do it now IMO. Something to play around with in the spring.

You know I realized that right after my post about Kap and Mateo. Fowler I thought has looked pretty good as a rookie, but havent followed closely. His tools were very interesting, but youre def right about the cost not being a ton. I guess it just relates how the rest of Fowlers career trends.
...no longer considered a prospect. Both he and Andujar graduated this year, meaning Florial and Sheffield are now the two top prospects in the organization (according to MLB.com). It also pushes OF Raimfer Salinas onto the team's Top 30 list.
Quote:
The Yankees paid seven-figure bonuses to three Venezuelan center fielders in the 2017-18 international signing class, grabbing Everson Pereira in July and Salinas and Antonio Cabella in December after their failed pursuit of Shohei Ohtani. Salinas received the most money of any player in their international crop, signing for $1.85 million. He had a long history of starring in international tournaments for Venezuela, starting when he was 13.
While Salinas is young and inexperienced, he has a huge ceiling with the chance to have close to plus tools across the board. He has a quick right-handed swing that presently is geared for line drives, and he shows some willingness to use the entire field. As he gets stronger and adds some loft to his stroke, he could have considerable power.
With his plus speed and ability to track down fly balls, Salinas undoubtedly will remain in center field. He also has a strong arm that will allow him to play anywhere in the outfield that he's needed. Just 17, he may not make his U.S. debut until 2019.

I think we will see Kaprielian eventually. He is experiencing some shoulder soreness, but setbacks like this are not uncommon after TJ surgery. There is some speculation if the injuries continue, he may be moved to the bullpen.

Torres, seams to be in a little slump. He's suddenly chasing bad pitches, hopefully he can get back on track soon.
To me Grays success is more about throwing his offspeed stiff for strike 1. When he remembers that his junk is good enough that he can get away with catching a good chunk of the plate and doesnt need to live on the black, it all seems to fall in place.
Ok, so Red thunder is presently 2 for 2 in tonight's game
This is ridiculous. He needs to be up with the big club. Sit Hicks or Gardner. Let him, Stanton and Judge alternate between DH, right and left fields.
I don't agree. Like Bird coming back, Austin taking his reps makes zero sense, he needs to play full time outside of a really bad matchup/rest day. Frazier needs to play every day, and I'm not willing to sit Gardner or Hicks right now and sacrifice that defense. Both are playing better than they were 2 weeks ago as well.
Down in AAA. In my mind, its far more likely than not that he gets dealt for pitching. Keep the value maximized by having gaudy 3A numbers to point at.
Of course, should there be a need for him to play for the big squad 5-6 days per week, I wouldnt hesitate to bring him up. But having him sit on the bench doesnt seem like a good idea.
keep honing his skills and his time will come, either with the Yanks or another trade. Him starting 2 days a week isn't worth it. There will also be an injury in our OF sooner or later and he will be called up for that.

The only ones that make sense to me are Judge, Bird, Ro, and Gleyber.

Yeah that's a great sign. Working quick and throwing strikes.
I think him and German are the types of pitchers who need good to great 1st innings to settle in and and keep their confidence up.

Such a huge difference when he speeds the game up. I feel like he thinks less and simply throws better. Hopefully this is a new trend for him.
Put him in Yankee stadium or Boston and it's like hes having bad anxiety out on the mound...
Guys got good stuff though, maybe he just needs added confidence and this ls it

I noticed he is playing CF tonight.
Good catch

The poster who said Frazier staying in AAA keeps his value high for trades I agree it's a good point..
But I'd rather see him in LF everyday for the Yankees, Hicks/Gardy sharing CF and Giancarlo DHing more and sharing LF/RF with Frazier and Stanton.
Makes sense right? Won't happen though or else it would have already .. plus it's tough to Demote a guy like Gardner
Andujar is a fucking worker man, he's always getting better. Kudos to this dude
This guy might be a keeper.
