NFT: 76ers siding with Colangelo

giantsfan44ab : 6/6/2018 5:56 pm
Really mind boggling. Even if Philly is convinced he was setup how are FAs (e.g. Lebron, Kawhi) assumed to feel the same way?

Really no positive outcomes with keeping him.

Is that what it says?
steve in ky : 6/6/2018 6:02 pm : link
Per that link it sounds like while they may believe he didn't have any knowledge of the accounts they still haven't decided his fate. Doesn't say they have sided with him.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Sixers brass met Tuesday night to discuss the findings of the investigation and determine if Colangelo would be a part of the organization's future.
They almost have to prove him innocent at this point
est1986 : 6/6/2018 8:19 pm : link
Instead of proving him guilty. This story is nuts.

I'd fire him alone for trading up for Fultz, in the process passing up on Tatum & giving the Celts another #1 pick.

And I don't believe for a second he didn't know about these five burner accounts. So The Ringer lets him & the 76ers know of his two accounts & within 20 minutes or so, the other three accounts go private? Coincidence. I think not.

I keep hearing this re: Fultz. Fultz was a consensus top 2 pick. Please find me evidence of someone banging the drum for Tatum over fultZ pre draft
Hinkie wouldn't have made the Fultz trade
giantsfan44ab : 6/7/2018 11:03 am : link
But i agree no one was saying it was severely one sided. Many celtics fans wanted Fultz so they wouldn't have to pay IT.

People also love writing off 19 year olds. I think Fultz ends up being more than fine. Idk about better than Tatum but I think people will forget about Fultz's rookie year much like Simmons or Embiid.

I'd be buying low on Fultz if philly is writing him off already.
He's outta there.

Right move on 76ers part. There was no way they could have kept him after this debacle.

Fultz may turn out to be very good, but who knows? There are a lot of whispers that changing his shoot threw him mentally off.

Tatum looks like a superstar in the making.

Even the Celtics weren't publicly saying they were all in on Tatum. We pretty much knew that they didn't want Fulz (because of IT) or Ball, but at least public thoughts were they didn't have a clear-cut decision between Tatum or Jackson. But, for a team who had a lot of big guys like Philly, Fulz was clearly the pick, so the trade actually made a lot of sense for both parties.

[Woj] Philadelphia and Bryan Colangelo have agreed to part ways, league sources tell ESPN.
Only 14 games
giantsfan44ab : 6/7/2018 12:48 pm : link
but fultz averaged 14, 7 and 6 per 36 with basically no jump shot. He was a 41% 3 point shooter in college. I'm not his doctor so I don't know if there is something physically preventing him from being a good shooter, but I don't buy into the fact that he "forgot" how to shoot completely.

My moneys still on Fultz becoming a 20+ PPG, even with what transpired during this season. Idk if thats on the Sixers or another team. Not deciding what his future is based on a a weird, 14 game season.

picking Fultz may have made sense but the trade up didn't. If, as you said, everyone knew Boston didn't want Fultz at #1, and the Lakers were taking Ball at #2, then Philly had no need to trade up.

No argument with that

unless the LaVar factor caused them to woryy that LA would pick Fultz.

Didn't Jackson decline to even workout with the Cs? I remember hearing prior to the draft that Ainge was really high on Tatum.
They were high on him
Bill L : 6/7/2018 1:00 pm : link
but they were in on Jackson too. Likely until he declined to work out for them IN fact, they were pissed off because they all went to him to work out, traveling cross-country, and then they had to turn right around and fly back home. The other tipping point, IIRC, was they weren't sure that Tatum could shoot form distance but he wowed them when he did his Boston work out by hitting something like 80% of a ton of 3-pt shots all taken in a row. So, they wre high on Tatum, but I guess I mean they weren't *always* high on Tatum until very far along into the process.

Thanks for info Bill. I know you're much more plugged in to the Cs than I am.

Still doesn't change the fact that he will never be the fraction of the player Tatum is and they traded a #1 to get him. Fultz is not going to be that player unless he can shoot. He isn't Marcus Smart who can do everything else but shoot.
Fultz is a great athlete
giantsfan44ab : 6/7/2018 2:34 pm : link
With a great feel for the game, especially in the pick and roll, which is key for guards nowadays. If he can shoot again it will only help that out more.

Yeah its bullshit, maybe a tweet here or there but he for sure thought he was sly for using his wifes phone number.

Also the delay in the firing is because Jerry Colangelo was threatening to ruin the Sixers league relationships if they fired his son.

Its time for this family to be blacklisted from the league.
