Well, their hitters anyway. Documented by science!!! Fangraphs looked at the missed balls and strikes calls for each team, both helpful (pitching) and not helpful (batting). Take a wild guess as to which team "wins" in a landslide as the team most hurt by poor strike calls against them? That's right, with 62 poor strike calls against, they've had 29 more than the runner up (Arizona with 33). I'm guess Judge by himself probably has more of those than all but a handful of teams. This garbage needs to stop.

On another note did anyone hear the A-hole Esiason on the radio this AM calling for three Yankees to get hurt in this Subway Series? I never liked him and his douchey ways but this was above and beyond IMO.
He finally apologized later in the show but only after a caller took him to task for it. Thing is though I would've accepted he was sorry if he came back from a break and apologized on his own but IMO he never would've if the caller didn't get on him for it.
If I'm the Yanks I'm calling for a timeout for him. You can't have a host on your flagship station saying shit like that. It's inexcusable and for a former athlete to say it makes it even worse to me.
Makes sense.
Makes sense.
I agree he's an asshole but saying what he did this morning did surprise me. Some guys you'd expect that from in a shock jock way but even for this asshole, and him being a former pro athlete was shocking to me.
Yup that's how I think too. Now it's like the Boomer with Gio show and not the as billed "Boomer and Gio" show.
Totally agree about Gio and glad he's settled in nicely and not afraid to take Boomer on a bit. In the beginning you could tell he deferred to Boomer and that was to be expected but now and like today, he stood up to him and called him out on some stuff.
Early on Gio would just laugh it off or let stuff slide but now he's like "what are you talking about"?
Don't think it shoes any Anti-Yankees bias though. I do think that Judge gets some tough calls on him but I don't think that's because he isn't well liked I think it's pure ineptitude. (Umps don't know how to adjust their strike zone for tall players well, they just make roughly the same calls)
How else are the umps supposed to screw them? You do realize that there is instant replay now, right? Except for on balls and strikes...
Im not suggesting the umps are trying to screw them intentionally, but you cannot just ignore the data. It could be for various reasons, who knows. Maybe the Yankees work the count that much better than the rest of the teams and take a shit ton more pitches, I have no idea. But to suggest that simply because the Yankees are winning games despite the enormous gap in missed calls is somehow proof that the umps havent had an effect on games is disingenuos, at best
Some of you may know I am a Mets fan but I had to jump in and say I agree - I have seen Judge get called out on some bad pitches.
Enjoy the game and series tonight guys. I feel like Jerry Mitchell getting ready for Buddy Revell.
As for the link by the OP, glad to know its not just us being homers...Yanks getting umpd has really been noticeable this season
I was gone within 15 minutes. Right after Bart Scott said Cespedes at 70% is better than anyone else the Mets can put out there. Ok just his opinion that's his job, I'm not sure I agree plus Cespedes has chronic career impeding leg issues at this point and rushing him back could cost him another few months. But if you want to take that risk as a Met fan ok.
When the other two voices brought up the chronic leg issues and not wanting him to rush back Scott said you can protect him by DHing him. To their credit they said maybe in August but not this series. That was enough for me.
Pretty inspired voice choices for the #1 NY Sports station. I'll wait about a year and see if they still exist before trying again.

I hear ya, they can be a tough listen. I do like Maggie though, she seems to be the most knowledgable sports person in the bunch.
They have gotten better since they started but I can only take them in small doses. I listen until one of them (usually Bart or Carlin) says something really dumb and then like you, I'm out.
Yesterday Bart who knows little about baseball IMO, was going on and on about how the Yankees need a top pitcher and should trade whatever they have to in order to get one. Saying they won't out slug teams in the playoffs and win games vs great pitching no matter how many good hitters they have or how long their lineup is.
Then in practically the very next breath he says they'll sign Machado or Harper next year and it'll be all over. They'll slug the hell out of teams!

I like it except for Tanaka batting 8th. I hate that. Keep Andujar and Torres back to back in the lineup.
I wish they did the same analysis for the NFL. The Giants would ',win' also, and the 'losers' would be NE.
They have Lugo penciled in to start and he's pretty good but no telling how long he can go.
Also, apologies if I hijacked the thread a bit with the Boomer post. Figured it was cool to put it here instead of starting another thread because of the pre game chatter part of your title.

#Mets are open to trade talks with #Yankees but #Mets are demanding both 2B Gleyber Torres and 3B Miguel Andujar plus a package of Fraizer, Sheffield and 1 more high end prospect...

Lol is right. Do we think Cash counters with Drury, Wade, Adams and Austin?
I MIGHT be willing to do Andujar/Frazier/Sheffield. Maybe. Depends on how Cashman feels about Drury. Torres, get the fuck outta here.

In the great words of Redman... GET DA FUK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!
That would be more experienced major leaguers than in the Chris Sale, Verlander, Quintana, and Cole trades combined.
Because thats what we need right now. I guess this isnt rock bottom - we need a jack hammer. Does it really matter at this point? This is about as distant the teams have been in terms of relevance,
He had lat issues and wasn't 100% healthy during that span, for what it's worth.
He seems 100% healthy now.
I know the fans on this board hate the Mets (which Id love to know why a team that has lived in the shadow would tick you off so much ) but I would think Cashman and Aldersons conversation (if they started) was what would it take to get deGrom. Sandy likely never named players but I think they both understand that a trade like this has to benefit both teams.
Torres, Andujar, Clint Frazier is insane but I would think any reasonable fan would understand Neil Walker and Tyler Austin is a bit off as well.
No problem with the Mets here - I was kinda rooting for them in the World Series a couple of years ago. And I love deGrom. He and Machado are probably my favorite non-Yankees in the MLB.
Consensus among some NYY fans here seems to be that a package starting with Andujar + Frazier + Sheffield is reasonable (plus a bit lesser pieces which would probably still instantly be top 10-15 for NYM...youre talking about a very deep farm)
Mets fans seem to shrug that package off. Fair enough. I dont begrudge anybody for wanting the NYM to maximize their returns. I do think people are marking down Andujar and Frazier harshly for some reason, but thats just my opinion.
I want deGrom quite a lot as a NYY fan, but would rather NYY walk away from the discussion than add much more than Ive listed above.

Andujar/Frazier/Sheffield is the package that should get it done what I might consider "fair" I would hate to do it though. Which is probably why my thinking is that it's fair.
It's the kind of deal the Astros are willing to make and it got them a title. I'd hate to give away someone that looks as good in the Majors as Andujar seeing as the Astros didn't have to do that for Cole or Verlander. Hell, the Red Sox didn't even have to do it for Sale.
That being said you don't want to be too cute and regardless of what has transpired so far this season i'm not sure we get past the Astros without another pitcher.
Enjoy the game everyone!
