What the heck do the Angels have that would intrigue the Mets? Their system has improved, but that basically means it went from abysmal to just plain bad

They have three prospects with star upside in Jo Adell, Jordyn Adams(assuming he signs), and Kevin Maitan.

I’ll give you Adell but Matian has done absolutely nothing to back up the over the top hype he had coming in. He’s only 18 so of course there is still plenty of time, but he has shown nothing to suggest he has “star upside” yet.

I agree 100% that Maitan is all potential and no performance so far. There were some reports that several Braves FO personnel were not upset at all with losing Maitan in the sanctions. Despite that he truth is he was one of the top IFA prospects over the past 20 years. Sure he was overhyped but he is exactly the type of player a rebuilding team should target. For the record I wasn't suggesting him as the centerpiece of the deal just as a secondary piece.
But the Yankees have those kind of all-upside prospects too, guys like Dermis Garcia. Dan bends over backwards to say that the Yankees don't match up with the Mets at all and then claims that the Angels, with a significantly weaker system, do?
I agree that the Mets are very unlikely to trade DeGrom to the Yankees, and I can agree that there are teams that can make a better offer, but in this case he's being kind of silly.
Ohtani's not the only Angels pitcher who could contend.
Yup.
They would've never had the benefit of his hitting to begin with if they didn't let him DH.
Ohtani for David Wright,
