He legit screamed “woo!” after most catches. He’d high step after the other catches. He was trash talking. Oh, and he launched a ball into a tree on the sideline

I trust that source.

Not saying it's not feasible, just saying I wouldn't simply believe this as fact.

Given the past six months of stories out of NE, I think it's certainly more than feasible. Brady is a different person all of a sudden.

They might implode. They failed to beat the Eagles, so now I don't care if Massachusetts falls into the Atlantic...
A lot of smoke in Boston

Seems like it is not going to end well when the dynasty crumbles. Amazing amount of bad blood for such a winning organization.
I could easily see Belichick...
bw in dc : 6/9/2018 7:20 am : link
shopping Gronk. And I could easily see other teams inquiring. His injury history, and antics to a degree, would make him expendable per the Belichick actuarial tables. So that part seems feasible.

The Brady part? Not so sure. However, maybe that’s why he and Gronk held out of OTAs....?

The real time to threaten to retire was right after the gun sounded to end the SB loss to Philly.

Unless Belichick would ever man up and give the real reason (not this - “....did what was best for the team...” throw away line) that was one the most disturbing decisions I’ve ever seen. Either Belichick’s stubbornness finally got the best of him or it was a near act of treason. Whichever it was, I’ve never been more convinced that was the key reason they lost.

After his interview with Jim Gray a few weeks ago, it’s apparent Brady has never received an explanation, and Butler never playing really bothers him. And I think this is going to be the watershed that cracks the dynasty.

The rich irony will be it’s Butler - the guy who bailed the Pats out in the SB versus Seattle...
Is it possible

Belichick would compromise his teams ability to win a point with the Butler benching, or is there more to the story than we know.

Seems unlikely the former is true
Fact, as I see it:
Big Blue '56 : 6/9/2018 7:53 am : link
Brady is FOS. He lives for football. Nothing short of injury would make him quit and even then.................

Really? The Butler decision you view as being that significant? Im not meaning to be incredulous or critical, sorry for my tone if it seems that way. But I agree, the cryptic nature of the explanation (or lack there of) raises questions to say the least. But pinning blame on one DB when NE surrendered 164 yards rushing, plus 374 in the air with 4 TDs and giving up 10 of 15 3rd down conversions is a stretch to say the least.

I also never thought Butler was that much of a game changer at his position. Maybe thats where Im wrong.

I just think you like to pick on FOs b dubz. Hahaha. Whats next? "Pats' People's Republic?" Just kidding, but the point remains.
Their collapse

will be swift and ugly when it does happen. I think they will struggle a bit this year too but probably still make the playoffs. Next year could be interesting though.

They're fortunate they play in such a weak division. Buffalo last year was a fluke, both they and the Jets are starting over with rookie QBs, and Miami is a disaster.
I hope not!

Now hold on there! Are we just talking the Foxboro area to the east, or central Ma. too?

It's had been rumored around here, that Brady forced the trade of Jimmy G....

To think that he could veto a Gronk trade, and if true, is almost impossible to comprehend....who is the real GM and owner then?

However, the fact that BB is shopping Gronk around, should surprise no one.....Even though Gronk is the highest paid TE in the NFL, he wants to be paid like a WR, just like OBj wants to be paid like a QB.....and BB is forced to put up with Brady and his antics, but he will be damned if Gronk is going to achieve the same status....

As for BB's actions regarding Butler in the SB, Butler and him were battling each other over contracts the last two seasons.....and he thought he was going to be traded to NO before the start of the season, and he stood to get a huge contract....suddenly it falls through, and Butler has to play for 4M, while newly acquired CB Gilmore, who hasn't played a down for the Pats, or helped to give them a SB, gets paid 23M.....so his last season as a Pat, he did not see eye to eye with BB, especially on how he was going to play......Butler was looking for the big defensive play, rather than playing Patriot football.....but still, he was better than anyone else they had.....Maybe BB had words with him, as to how he should play in the SB, and Malcolm told him he would play the way he had played all season......

Something like that, does not go unpunished by BB.....you win his way.....and despite the fact he did not play Butler, his team looked like it took control of the game with 8 minutes left....it DID look like they were going to win BB's way......even though Philly scored, Brady had enough time on the clock this time in the SB(as opposed to the two losses to the Giants), to pull out a victory.....but a strip sack ended that......

BB's stubbornness cost his team a SB.....and his ego does not allow him to even see it.....
If that is true - Kraft is digging a bigger hole
short lease : 6/9/2018 4:02 pm : link
for this team that they are going to have to climb out of eventually.

Remember the Bill Walsh's 49'ers. He got rid of everyboday before it was to late and they went on to win 4 SBs in the 80's

Kraft seems to think Brady is going to play forever ... and all he has to do is replace the parts around him. So, until Kraft wakes up - whatever Brady says ... goes?

Stay your course Kraft ... the rest of he league loves you for it.
Until you stop seeing this team in the Playoffs

Yes, the Butler decision was that significant. Why? Because the Pats had an inconsistent pass rush all year and that shifted more responsibility on the corners to cover longer. Granted, Butler isn’t Deion Sanders but taking him out forced Rowe out of the the slot and to the outside. Rowe got exploited to the tune of 6 catches for 80 yards and a TD. This forced Richards to become the primary slot cover guy, and he gave up close to 80 yard too.

So bottom line is the loss of Butler created a chain reaction of weaker, alternative options for BB. Options that Pederson and Reich exploited effectively and essentially made Foles the MVP and the moved the Lombardi to Philly.

Or was that mere coincidence?

Agree, Butler benching was significant to outcome
Jimmy Googs : 6/10/2018 7:22 am : link
Naive to think otherwise but there are some meatballs on here...
It was significant.

Preventing even one of the TDs and the Pats are champs again, imo

+1 , I hate the Pats but their demise has been forecast over and over and they're in the SB every year it seems.

I find it funny that everyone on this board roots for a team in which the benching of Star QB caused the immediate firing of head coach and yet are shocked that Brady might have some significant pull in NE

You and I guess most feel if Butler plays, the Pats win?

I think PJCAS said Butler may have been the rat to ESPN, hence the benching?
