NFT: USMNT v. France

US up 1-0 at the half after being dominated for much of the 1st half. Still a great opportunity for the youngsters to learn against a top international squad. Even with all the mistakes, poor touch at times and the poor passes it is so much more enjoyable watching these kids grow and learn than seeing the veteran squads make many of the same mistakes.
Was that really US first goal against France

tough against a much more experienced group. Maryland Terp Zach Steffen might have a future with the USMNT.

hats off to the USA - tremendous result all things considered. Impressed with US gk. Not impressed with France considering all the talent. That said tho they were obv saving a lot for the WC. Still, bravos USA.
Several Players Looked Good

Adams, Robinson, Moore as well as the goalie and Parker also impressed. But when you consider this was a very young American team playing the first team of France, it is difficult to be too critical of anyone. Americans played a very defensive-oriented game which did not allow some of the attacking players to feature.
OK, I'll guess....

Great experience for this group and a nice result

But I'm not going to be ecstatic about this one - this game was more about France than the US despite what the ESPN guys were saying. US was really sloppy; Bobby Wood was awful. They should've been down 2 or 3-0 before the fluky Green goal and then played like Iceland/Greece, etc. for the second half.

France, on the other hand, has looked really shitty for a Top 4 side in the world, when you consider the near billions of talent on that team. I don't know if you can play Matuidi and Kante together in a 3-3-4, and maybe Giroud should come off the bench.

Will start a World Cup thread tomorrow, as my son runs through his Pannini stickerbook and asks me to buy more packs.

note, yesterday's NYCFC game was insane. 28 shots for the boys in blue vs 3 for Atlanta, yet both teams walk away with a point.

Unfortunately, that appears to be Viera's last game, as he's going to be heading to Nice. HIs replacement is rumored to be Rodolfo Borrell, who is a current MC assistant, and developed the youth teams of Barca and Liverpool. Certainly worse options on short notice.
My son and I were

at Yankee Stadium yesterday and it was the best match we've seen this year. How many shots taken by NYCFC rang off the post? 3? 4?

And how ironic that pussyboy Almiron injured his shoulder because of one of his flops?
