Not a bad move IMO. He's played in just about every game this year until recently and with the day off tomorrow, getting a couple days in a row will pay off long term.
Plus with Sevie going I'm thinking they won't need a lot of O to get a win tonight.
talk about whats going on pitch by pitch? Instead we get the 3 of them trying to be the Charles Kuralt of baseball traveling the country and going into human interest dialogues every fucking pitch.
but tonight its insufferable. I mean they key moment of the game so far- Frazier swinging for strike 3 they can't stop blowing useless hot air to even mention it or god forbid show a replay. Heck I don't think they were even watching.
Their record is great but they can play even better. The lineup has not come close to clicking on all cylinders yet. Sanchez has been awful, Stanton has not had a hot streak yet, Bird hasn't been healthy, Didi has been bad.
but the Yanks shouldn't have even bothered to board the bus tonight with that effort. Bird getting doubled off by 3 steps as the meaningless run on a ball hit to the other side of the diamond? Are you fucking kidding me?

This has to be viewed as a positive. Best record in baseball and they’re still not playing up to their capabilities. Have to figure Gary won’t hit like this all season and a hot streak will eventually come for Stanton
Judge in the lineup tonight) I admire them. He works hard to give guys rest, and often does it the night after they've done something special. It's counter-intuitive but it seems to be working for this team.
Tough loss, but Lugo and the ump really shut the Yanks down tonight.
come time for our next game, which is Tuesday, Judge should be very well-rested. Didn't play tonight and the Yankees have an off-day tomorrow. He should be completely recharged and ready to go on Tuesday, which is a positive to him sitting tonight.
I wouldn't be surprised if Fred stepped in and doesn't want him released and wants him to go out retiring or on good terms. He's an odd man like that. He won't step in when the team is absolute shit, but will step in when they want to get rid of people he likes. Wasn't there a story the reason they didn't fire Collins earlier than they did was because he liked talking to him or something? Truly brilliant owner.

More likely, they don’t have anyone on the 40 many roster to replace Reyes. 40 man is jammed with all 5he relievers Sandy obtained at the deadline last year.
This is the first time Lugo went more than four innings this season Â
doesn't look like it's going to play in the post-season, I like Reyes retiring as a Met. He certainly isn't now, but he may have been our best shortstop ever.
They can have a Jose Reyes Appreciation Day and parade him around the ballpark next year. He is hurting the team, and in every sport I ever played, it was always supposed to be about what is best for the team.
RE: RE: That's the second time Stanton got punched out Â

Yeah those walks might cost him an inning tonight but his stuff looks nasty as usual.
Flores is coming back soon though
Lugo should stay in the rotation

He's pitching well and is a competitor but we all know how this is going to end.
Not if Cab is out
after a real luck slow roller thru the shift earlier
I loved the guy growing up but this is the final straw. Bye.
So we're F'd. LGM.
100%.
I think Callaway has to give Gsellman a shot in the 9th. They need to stop the bleeding and he's pitching great right now.
Almost.

I'd rather see Hansel Robles try to get 3 outs than Lugo back in the pen.
Wait, what am I saying?

someone call this man a cab.
Yup. Plus got some other bad calls during those ab's as well.
Oh well, they were due for a clunker but never expected to get shutout tonight.
Agreed.
1.77 ERA over 45.2 IP.
2.95 ERA over 39.2 IP.
Yeah, Lugo and Gsellman are terrible.
Disagree about the pitching. Swarzak maybe isn't that good but the other two sure as hell are. Both would make the Yanks staff IMO.
Lugo and Gsellman have swag

This. Not gonna win 162. Would have liked the sweep but credit the Mets pitching.

Dom smith and ty kelly coming up.

And Jose Reyes survives another fucking day. Jesus Christ.
