Sucks for baseball. He was awesome for the sport. Sounds like TJS is inevitable. They can afford to give it a little time since he's going to miss the entire next season whether he has it now or in 2 months - but it doesn't sound good.
The ever increasing frequency of this in baseball is very disturbing from a medical perspective. Over-training and over-performing are the most likely culprits.
If the angels are competing next year I would guarantee that he is back by September in some capacity.
Also that is for pitching, if he is purely dhing I wouldn’t be shocked if he is in lineup by may of next year - just not playing the field or throwing the ball.
is,why can't he come back and DH, he would not be throwing a ball with the arm he had surgery just as Gleyber Torres isn't,and also not playing the field unlike Torres is
So don't give me that stupid look.
Last I checked he was essentially their second best bat Â

Not sure he can go long swinging the bat on a consistent basis without tearing the UCL completely
until he recovers from TJS. His arm is too valuable and if you screw up the recovery from TJS you can kiss his career goodbye. You are not seeing him until 2020.
You cannot be serious. The answer to your question has been stated multiple times on this thread.
Torres injured his NON throwing arm and is NOT an elite SP that has an injury to his throwing arm! It’s really not that difficult. Ohtani is a pitcher first. The two situations couldn’t be any different.
and Zimmerman flew!
Ha!

Well, that was his non throwing elbow. This is a bit different.

They aren't.
Not sure what you're missing here or why you aren't getting it.
How difficult is it to parse the position player who injured his non-throwing arm from a pitcher who hurt his throwing arm?
Is it really that tough to grasp?
That can't be good? Good luck to him ... I guess if all else fails they can put him at first base and let his bat stay in the line up?
