NFT: Jim Halpert As Jack Ryan?

Gene : 6/11/2018 11:30 am
As an avid reader of Tom Clancy, I was very interested in an email I received this morning from Goodreads.

On August 31, Amazon Prime will start streaming "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan". The series will consist of 8 one hour episodes of original stories based on Clancy's well known character.

John Krasinski will play Ryan. I had to do a double take with that one. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt, but will it work? Can it work?

I thought he played a military contractor well enough in

13 Hours, and he wrote, directed and starred in that horror movie a few months ago, A Quiet Place. He will be fine.
He was considered

and in the running to be Captain America many years ago.

Im glad they chose the excellent Chris Evans. But Jim will be fine

Was a good movie.
Yes, if you saw him in 13 Hours

You probably aren't asking yourself this question. I was pleasantly surprised. He'll be a great Jack Ryan, and I'm really looking forward to this series.
I used to not like him

Then I saw A Quiet Place and he was awesome in it (also created it). So yeah, I wouldn’t be worried.
He was real good in 13 hours

God for him. I hope he does look different

I don’t want to see him and think “Jim” (or even “Tuna”).

Not relevant but I hated Jim (and Pam). I always wanted to punch their smarmy faces.
He was surprisingly good

As an action/drama guy but if you watched the Office you could see who actually had talent and he seemed to be one of the few original main ones who was gifted as an actor not just a comedic side character.
of course he can do it-

Acting isn't brain surgery, any idiot can do it. Look around.

Tom Clancy sold out decades ago when he started making crap co-author series books circa 2003. The stuff after Bear and the Dragon and maybe Red Rabbit stunk.
And the movies have mostly been mediocre. Sum of all fears was a shell of an epicly shocking plot.
Including the tense action scene......

When he immerses the opposing agent’s weapons in jello.......
Jack Ryan was always a bit of the everyman analyst who gets sucked

into something over his head. He's not Bond or Bourne. I think Krasinski is perfect for that.

Eh, after "Hunt for Red October", pretty hard to live up to expectations. (I did like Patriot Games)
I thought "Red Storm Rising" would have been good for a movie.

Yes, it matters. I wish there were more shows like this nowadays.
