Maybe they test for elevated levels of testosterone/HGH first and then if the max levels are exceeded, go back and test the blood to determine what caused the elevated levels?
I very much look forward to my Pats fan friends, who became Ideal Gas
Blood creatnine levels are not related to PED usage.
I believe you can score too high or low for a certain test like creatine level, and they assume you were on XXXXXX.
get buried above. Anyway there are cutting edge unrecognizable PEDs out there that are ahead of the tests as always. Remember Victor Conte and Balco? Or it could be a false positive from some other related issue. Further analysis needed...
meaning there is a list of what will trigger a positive test? It's either on that list or it's not. If it's unknown what it is, then it can't possibly be on the list - why isn't the NFLPA up in arms yet?
Interesting that this is difficult for some of you to understand
How do you think Bonds, Clemens, Sosa, Ortiz & Arod etc got away with passing all the tests they took? What this test showed was as usual the users are ahead of the testers. Even though they don't know exactly what he was taking they can see it's an artificial substance.
If they don't know what it is, then it hasn't been banned.
Therefore he's not guilty of violating the nfl's PED policy and should not have been suspended.
That may not actually be the policy. If you can't identify it, but your test is showing elevated hormorne levels outside the normal expected range, it makes sense to classify it as a positive. Ever heard the term "masking agent"? There are drugs you take specifically to conceal the effects of the other drugs you take.

Eh, it probably has a general clause about unknown substances that act as stimulants or performance enhancers. For example, if the testosterone:epitestosterone ratio exceeds 4:1, it's a "positive" test even if they don't identify the substance that caused the increase:
Quote:
The Independent Administrator is authorized to subject a percentage of all specimens to
Carbon Isotope Ratio (CIR) testing to detect the use of exogenous steroids. Confirmation of
the exogenous administration of testosterone shall be governed by the currently-applicable
WADA Technical Document or Guideline governing the detection of endogenous anabolic
androgenic steroids.
If the introduction of testosterone or the use or manipulation of any other substance results in
increasing the ratio of the total concentration of testosterone to that of epitestosterone in the
urine to greater than 4:1, the test will be considered presumptively positive and will be
subjected to CIR analysis. If CIR testing confirms the presence of an exogenous steroid, the
result will be referred for discipline. In addition, if a Player's epitestosterone level exceeds 200
ng/mL, it will be considered a positive test result regardless of the Player's T:E ratio.
law experts, branching out into a new fields of bio-science.
This is great and a perfect depiction. Their "expertise" is truly in excuse-making...made necessary by their favorite team's constant and consistent efforts to skirt any and all rules.

Andro used to be legal. Friend I know was using a substance that produced juice like results but had not been classified as illegal. He even admitted that eventually the substance would be.
I guess if they can't identify what's in the results, it's an auto-fail...?
