Ok, now that the playoffs are over and Ovi is in day 5 of a summer long bender figured maybe worth starting draft thread and one for off-season rumors.
I'll start with Brian Wilde's final top 15. I think all of these guy are legit blue-chip prospects.
I disagree with the order, but IMO they're all legit.
Brian Wilde's top 15 prospects.

They love Kotkaniemi in MTL and he writes for recrutes, so he is higher here (justifiably) than some places.
If the Rangers drafted Dobson there I'd say you have a top pair RD to pair with Skjei.
Not Dahlin or Hughes as a skater, but he's got a cannon shot, good size, is a rock defensively and has offensive skill - reminds of a little of Roman Josi.
but this is a ranking not a mock draft. It won't fall this way.
Also found this gem, Kovalchuk is apparently asking for or is expected to get $8M per season? Good luck, whoever signs him at that $$ deserves it if he's awful.

Ilya Kovalchuk...a 35-year-old who has played 32 career NHL playoff games....is going to get what.....$8M per? No thanks.

Yeah. But could be next of the Russian goalies.
Rangers are banking on it. He's the heir apparent to King Henrik
takes place next week 7/28 - 8/4 in British Columbia.
US has two teams, I think it's 11 countries.
Some of the notables just from the USA teams:
2019 draft eligible:
Sean Dgooghe USA Blue (this kid is fun to watch: 5' 3", so I doubt he goes beyond his Wisconsin career, without a growth spurt, but man he's fun to watch.)
Tommy Miller USA Blue (big kid - RD)
Matt Anderson USA White (another D)
Cole Coskey USA White (F)
Jack Hughes USA White - the prize of the 2019 draft (for now) Quinn's younger brother, and he broke all Patrick Kane's USNDT records.
Spencer Knight USA White - goalie
NYI:
Logan Cockerill USA Blue '17 7th round
Ben Mireages USA White '17 3rd round
Oliver Wahlstrom USA White '18 1st round
BOS:
Kyle Keyser G USA Blue *undrafted free agent
Curtis Hall USA White '18 4th round
MTL:
Ryan Poehling USA Blue '17 1st round
Cayden Primeau USA White '17 7th round (Keith's son and a heck of a goalie from Northeastern)
NJD:
Reilly Walsh USA Blue '17 3rd round
NYR:
K'Andre Miller USA Blue '17 1st
Joey Keane USA White '18 3rd round
If I see the other rosters I'll point out players from BBI hockey fans teams.
Noah Dobson NYI '18 1st
Ty Smith NJD '18 1st
Jack Studnicka BOS '17 2nd
Josh Brook MTL '17 2nd
2019 draft eligible:
Matthew Welsh Goalie
Joel Teasdale F
big three team trade being "rumored" I won't link the site (it's nhltraderumors.me)
Maybe a blue jackets fan created this, but it was shared on twitter by reputable sources (who discredited it) but shared it nonetheless
Detroit:
Max Pacioretty
Charlie Lindgren
Ryan Murray
Columbus:
Dylan Larkin
Andreas Athanasiou
Noah Juulsen
2019 1st round pick (MTL)
Montreal:
Artemi Panarin
2019 2nd round pick (DET)

Great chance to see young players your teams have drafted as well as 2019 draft eligibles.
the hockeycanada link is better than the US one, so it's linked below for rosters, schedules, etc. rosters should be updated over the weekend.

Funny stuff!

Allegedly, this is what each team would be receiving:
Detroit:
Max Pacioretty
Charlie Lindgren
Ryan Murray
Columbus:
Dylan Larkin
Andreas Athanasiou
Noah Juulsen
2019 1st round pick (MTL)
Montreal:
Artemi Panarin
2019 2nd round pick (DET)
Would you be ok w this return?
Love the Columbus haul

Yes, for CBJ this is great. Panarin is a rental (as is Max, but MTL gives up much more and it's not like Panarin is 22 years old).
But in essence MTL gives up Max, Juulsen (future top 6 possible top 4 D - and by future it's 2019), 1st round pick and Lindgren for Panarin and a 2nd.
Panarin already has hinted he wants to go to LA or NY.
MTL and DET wouldn't do that. They'd need more for Larkin and Athanasiou.
USA White puts up 12 goals in two games beating Canada (red) and Finland.
USA Blue beat Canada (white) and lost to Sweden. The USA teams are 3 - 1 after 4 games.
USA and Canada each have two teams in the SS, Sweden and Finland have one.
next week they'll all have one team in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. and teams will be added from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, and Switzerland.
this week will help determine rosters for the USA and Canada. Good opportunity to catch newly drafted players and some players who will be '19 draft eligible.
US overcomes a 2 goal deficit and beats Sweden in OT. Josh Norris buries the GW on a feed from Quinn.
US plays the Fins today, game starts in 20 min.

Been seeing great reviews for Dobson so far. Have you been watching a lot of the games?

Only the US games. Dobson scored and played well, but the US offense was just too much for Canada Red.
Against the Fins, on the consolidated roster in a game I did not see, Dobson had a couple goals, he's going to be good. I liked him coming in to the draft.
Skinner to the Sabres for a second-round draft pick in 2019, third- and sixth-round picks in 2020 and 20-year-old forward Cliff Pu
seems light, I guess that's why Max Pacioretty is still in MTL.
Skinner is a FA after the season like Max.
I like what BUF is doing if they extend Skinner.
USA finishes with Canada in a game going on now.
all in prep for the Gretzky Hlinka Memorial next week.
And he's got a bit of a Napoleon complex. He should make it to the Hlinka Gretzky Memorial (I think) if so, you should watch him. He's shorter than one of the 10 year old's I coach. But man he's got good hands, good speed, grit, Just think he's definitely going to be overmatched.
Canada up 5 - 1, USA now trails 6 - 5 with 1:19 left.
Quinn Hughes has such great vision.
Wahlstrom had some good looks.
Petruzelli (US starting goalie) let up 5 goals in half a period.
both Hughes brothers, Tkachuk, others involved.
The summer showcase is not an official event and these games are really exhibitions so I don't think anything comes of it.
And the ref never even dropped the puck, LOL.

fight, not right
The WJC in December is what this summer showcase was for, but no Jack Hughes in the Hlinka Gretzky Memorial, but still a good chance to see others.
they play the Russians today in their final prelim game (both teams are 2 - 0) and I believe are assured a spot already in the quarterfinals.
2019 draft eligibles Luke Toporowski, Grant Silianoff, and Sam Colangelo separating themselves from the pack (of the US players) - not Jack Hughes level, but 1st/2nd round talents.
Agree completely Andy. Russia too, their goalie against the Czech's was phenomenal (from the highlights I saw). 35 save shut out? Czech's were 0 for 7 on the PP and looked like they had some good chances. US also shut out the Czech's but US outshot the Czech's 40 - 23.
many coaching systems stifle creativity and with it the game loses some attraction

Alex Kovalev is not a fan of the current NHL game. (source: https://rsport.ria.ru/hockey/20180807/1140178255.html )
Not sure I get that. I think he's got some upside, but is a pretty good to middle of the road player (until proven otherwise) I'd wouldn't extend until I needed to.
Maybe they know something about a big breakout coming.
I like Larkin, hoped he'd shake free, but he loves playing in his hometown.

Interesting. If he keeps improving it'll be a good deal for the last couple of years
HOWEVER, the real takeaway from that game imo is how freakin loaded both programs are at the moment. US hockey pushes Hockey Canada and vice versa. Sweden and Russia also have amazing programs right now too.
A little surprising to me. But I guess he viewed it as they have a lot of roster spots open and he'll get a chance to play a regular shift at 19, instead of going to BU.
He was a polarizing prospect, so I'm looking forward to seeing him play this year. I expect good things, more than some people on here.

Would certainly make it easier for Arc to switch teams if the Rangers shit the bed for a long time.
My prediction on this, I think the Islanders. Theyre not at a point where the want to rebuild. In Panarin, theres a chance to get that preimere player. Obviously they have the finances to sign him, they can just give him [John] Tavares moneyand I think the Islanders can put together a really good package if they wanted to.
For context on what he'd potentially bring/replace, Tavares averaged 73 points per year for the Islanders when you give him the benefit of excluding the lockout year and the year he was injured in the Olympics. Panarin has averaged 78 points per season over his career, and last year lost Patrick Kane as his centerman and became the first player to have his numbers go up when moving to a Torts-coached team.
Would be a hell of a pick up.
I've read NY and LA are at the top of his list.
No idea if true.
His agent denies it, but agents have about as much credibility on topics like this as the stories.

Kane is a rw, not a center.
Love Panarin, but they aren't replacing Tavares' production. Despite butt hurt fans' revisionism, he is an elite center who impacted all 3 zones and made his linemates demonstrably better. There's a half dozen players in the nhl earning contracts they cannot live up to because of him. His zone entries/exits are elite, he is 95th percentile in generating shots off his passes, etc etc. Tulloch has a great article on it.
https://theathletic.com/420713/2018/07/05/even-by-superstar-standards-john-tavares-may-be-underrated-heres-why/
Panarin is one of a handful of guys who can drive a line from the wing, but he isn't as valuable as a top center.
Any deal would be Lee or Eberle, Pulock, and one of Wahlstrom or Bellows, plus a pick. That's really steep.
I've read NY and LA are at the top of his list.
