Hey BBI - I am looking to replace my current thermostats for Wifi models that can be controlled remotely. Does anyone have any model recommendations? The Nest looks very cool but is it worth the extra money? Any advice would be extremely helpful!
check your current thermostat setup. Many of the WiFi ones require the C wire which wasn't required for older thermosts and it may be difficult to route an extra wire between the thermostat and your furnace.
If so, Ecobee has an adaptor that allows their system to work without it and its a solid WiFi thermostat in and of itself. Link - ( New Window )
the thermostat to basically learn your habits then the Next is great. If you want something that you can easily program and control yourself from your phone, computer, tablet etc then I would recommend the Ecobee.
Personally I think a standard programmable thermostat has all the functionality I need

The Chinese are surprisingly accommodating....The Russians are just assholes
The best part is that I can adjust temperature when we're on the road.
