LGM! all is not lost yet.
Nice to see AGone gone!

I would send Conforto to AAA (actually being discussed), DFA Reyes, DFA Robles, and DL Cabrera. I would promote Drew Smith, McNeil, and Cechini (when he's healthy) to take their places. Im still going to watch this season play out until the deadline and see where we are. Absolutely fucking sucks we are missing pieces like Thor, Cespedes, and Famiia once again but the pitching has still been fantastic lately.

Also promote Alonso to AAA so if Smith fails after a little run they can be swapped.
Ive actually been looking forward to Wheeler starts lately...
ZGiants98 : 6/12/2018 7:34 pm : link
In the unlikely chance he goes 8 innings tonight he would actually lead all SP on the team in IP per start.

The guy with control problems that would max out at 5 innings because he was over 100 pitches is gone.
Interesting

Foltynewicz is having a great season
Jay on the Island : 6/12/2018 8:15 pm : link
This was a make or break year for him and he has finally broken out. He has allowed more than 2 earned runs only once this season.

Too bad...
ZGiants98 : 6/12/2018 8:41 pm : link
Wheeler got killed by three fucking bloops that inning.
Folty has looked good but let’s not forget who he’s pitching to.
PhiPsi125 : 6/12/2018 8:41 pm : link
This Mets offense would lose to most AAA teams.

The Braves need to trade for another bat
Jay on the Island : 6/12/2018 9:00 pm : link
If they want to seriously challenge the Nationals. Acuna is due back next week but they need to add a 3B so Camargo can assume a super utility role. Moose makes the most sense due to price and contract situation.

Asdrubal Cabrera plays 3B. Center a deal around Soroka

No he’s not a major league caliber starter
How many times have we seen Deitrich (spelling?) from the Marlins

step in front of a pitch to get hit and it’s never called? EVER!

Only 2Ks for Wheeler tonight
Metnut : 6/12/2018 9:36 pm : link
Some hard hit balls right at OFs earlier on. You allow that many balls in play with a bad defense behind you and some will get through.

Top of the 6th ...
Stufftherun : 6/13/2018 7:34 am : link
they’ve already plated two runs and are poised to score a 3rd and possibly a 4th with runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out. The infield is in and Mez pulls one to 3rd where Camargo is playing even with the bag in fact he’s just a few feet away from it. Why in the hell is Cabrera caught that far off 3rd?! All you have to do is stand on 3rd and if the ball is hit through the drawn in infield, you jog home, or if the ball is hit into the air to the outfield, you get ready to tag but noooo, twinkle toes is caught off 3rd on a tag then Mez is thrown out at first for the DP. Only the Mets can fuck up a potential big inning!

To add insult to injury, Sewald eventually comes in for Wheeler in the bottom of the inning to pitch BP, as per usual, and gives up a bomb that any of us could have squared up and ripped! It’s always a series of physical and/or mental gaffes with this group. What was it, 3 measley hits on the evening? They’re a group of misfits in baseball uniforms masquerading as a real MLB team.
The Mets huge lead

Why do the mets keep putting Conforto in CF, he is NOT a CF, he's barely adequate as a corner OF?
Foltynewicz left the game due to triceps tightness
Jay on the Island : 6/13/2018 9:13 am : link
He is scheduled to make his next start
Sewald
pjcas18 : 6/13/2018 9:27 am : link
needs a break, he's been brutal lately. Between him and Robles not sure who can be relied upon.

Shit like this is why players like Gsellman "break" they are generally reliable when Robles and Sewald pitch like assholes.

Sewald has allowed at least one run in 5 of his last 6 appearances. And those are only the runs charged to him.

Over that time he has 7 inherited runners and amazingly all 7 inherited runners have gone on to score.

And he has two blown saves in that time.

I'm not sure you can get much worse.

Drew Smith should be up and Sewald should be sent down, if you want to DFA Robles to make room no complaint from me, Robles and Sewald are brutal.
Sewald sucked - but Cabrera also made the pitchers need 4 outs
Eric on Li : 6/13/2018 9:44 am : link
simple fielding mistakes consistently hurt this team with no repercussions. Yes he had an amazingly hot start, but since he and the entire team are now ice cold nobody is hitting well enough that there shouldn't be some accountability for not executing simple plays.
Sound like broken records don't we?
pjcas18 : 6/13/2018 9:48 am : link
droobs should be traded, Reyes DFA'd, Bruce shopped in a salary dump scenario.

In addition to DFA-ing Robles and Sewald.

And none of that is waving the white flag, it's improving the team probably short-term and long-term.

Yup. If I were Sandy I'd have Eiland/Callaway/whoever make a list of all the pitchers with similar $ left to Bruce who suck, basically other teams Vargas', and try to swap bad contract for bad contract. Realistically we know they aren't signing a big name starter in the offseason, so may as well try to go shopping for a reclamation project they can trade in for Bruce now. I guess they have until Cespedes is healthy to hope he hits a little to up his value but I truthfully don't think it's changing. That would probably be my #1 priority before the deadline.

Trading Droobs, Blevins, Swarzak, etc probably won't return too much but I'd dump all of them for pretty much whatever I could get. Clear the way for Guillorme, Cecchini, Dom, Drew Smith, Mcneil, Nimmo and Conforto to play as much as possible.

Familia is really the only one that could go either way bc Id like to resign him if at all possible. If someone offered a top 100 level prospect for him I'd have to consider it, but I don't think it's worth dealing him if it's a similar return to what Reed brought back last year. I guess Wheeler and Matz are on that same level since they are cheap upside arms and I have no confidence the org is going to find better replacements via FA next year if the Alex Cobb's of the world can still get $60m in a weak market.

That's a new one.
they have quit
fanofthejets : 6/13/2018 1:55 pm : link
It is really time for Callaway to go. I've seen the Mets lolmet it up many a time before. But to outright quit like they have now. This is very very bad. They are not competing.

You can have bad luck, injuries, heartbreaking losses. But when you refuse to give an effort like this. This is when heads roll.
I would say I get some vibes the SNY Booth
moespree : 6/13/2018 1:57 pm : link
Isn't exactly pro Callaway. They've made some interesting comments and questions about things he has done, that I don't remember them doing all that much with Collins. I think Callaway was given a bad roster composition. But he hasn't exactly done much with what he was given either. I don't know what the answer is. I don't think I'd fire him, but he's not very impressive either, I must admit.
