I also don't understand how anyone is complaining about the offense. Bird was struggling mightily and Sanchez is in a major slump right now and NYY are still 3rd in the majors in fWAR. The Astros are the only AL team ahead of them.

This team is going to score plenty of runs.

Not sure what people expect. 10 runs a game?

Honestly yes. I think a lot of people do expect them to bludgeon teams and score 8-10 runs every game.

It's totally unrealistic but it almost seems like people expect them to never lose either.

Right now they're winning at right around a .700 clip and if anyone had told me that before the season started I'd ask where do I sign for that?

Even as someone who has watched from afar until recently, this looks like the best Yankees team I've seen in a really long time.

The runs will come. It's a 162 game season - they won't hit 5 HR's every single night. It's just baseball. Sometimes a crappy pitcher gets you. Shit happens. This is an excellent team. I guess it's the contrast for me and what I'm used to watching, too...LOL.. but still. Offense should be the last thing anyone worries about right now.

Wake up! Wake up! You're having a nightmare! I know you're a Mets fan but the real nightmare begins when you wake up and realize what a pipe dream you're living in.

Why has this guy posted..

Crappy pitcher. Never know what you are going to get with gray smh. Worse part, Sox take lead again. Can't say Cora isn't doing a great job with that team.. smh.

I remember a post when the Yanks fell back to .500 early in the year (maybe 7-7) where he said Boone was in over his head but Cora is a great manager.

A weird obsession to keep referencing on Yankee threads.

Welcome to Yankee fandom! 162-0 is the expectation. Hitting less than .750 with runners on? RISPFAIL!!1!

I'm almost completely sure that, were you to look them up, you'd find that the only threads he ever posts on are after losses so he can bitch and moan. I don't think I've ever seen him post after a win.

I’m assuming he’s talking about the guy that proposed the Sanchez/Andujar trade. But who the hell knows.

As far as your question about people bitching about the offense, you’ll learn very quickly that there is a small group of low IQ weirdos that show up on Yankee threads randomly. Most of us know who they are and try to ignore them but sometimes it’s difficult. You can probably tell who they are just from this thread alone. I’m not sure if they are trolls or just brain dead, but they are brutal either way. One of my favorites is the Red Sox fan that poses as a Yankees fan every time they lose. He only shows up on the days that the Yankees lose and the Red Sox win to tell us all how great a job Cora is doing and how disappointing the Yankees are. prdave or something like that he goes by. I think he actually posted on this thread too, cackling the same exact thing. Dude has issues

Haha! Yep! That’s the guy I just referenced in my last post to arc. The dude ONLY shows up when they struggle or don’t win and it’s always to tell us how great Cora is. He’s obviously a Red Sox troll.
I'm usually in the go for it mode in terms of trades

But I agree with the stay the course crowd. No way I'm parting with Gleyber, and I'd really like for us to try and see what we have within the system first. DeGrom is not worth talking about because he's not available to us. Frankly I know as Yankee fans we are brought up with the concept that we have to win the WS every year when we are good, but I'd rather see what we can do before emptying the system.

I don't think that's accurate. What we do hope for is some kind of consistency from our big bats.

Well, now, that was a pain. Anyway - I don't think Yankees fans expect 8-10 runs per game, but we do expect more productivity from middle-of-the-order types, rather than depending on rookies and a backup catcher. Only Judge and Didi are outperforming their projections, and IMHO, the bars were set too low for both; it's been frustrating watching "the big guys" struggle so much.

Agree 100%. There are B level players in MiLB to trade because they can't keep everyone. Or Austin or Walker off the MLB roster. But I don't want to see them trade any core players in 2018. Just go for it with a cheap rental and what they've got now.
Line up the SWB and Baltimore lineups...
Dunedin81 : 6/14/2018 4:20 pm : link
all kidding aside, I'm not really sure which one is better. Baltimore has two clear-cut major leaguers in their lineup (Jones and Machado). Virtually everyone else is either severely underperforming or sucked to begin with. Pitching is Bundy and some BP arms and a lot of fringe major leaguers.

I feel the same but would like to see what it would cost if, and it's a big if, an Ace like DeGrom or Bumgarner were dangled.

For me if they can't get an Ace, I'd love to see them see what they can do from within and then trade some excess to get another top reliever. First to absolutely lock the pen down and then as a bonus to keep him away from the Stros or anyone else.

I'd really like to see what it took to get a guy like Hand from the Padres if he's made available.

Agreed. That is one of the worst major league teams I've ever seen short of a 1st year expansion roster.

I expect to score off guys like Seth logo and Sam Gaviglio and not get shut out like they have twice in th least week against these two mediocre pitchers, looks at the pitchers they have faced over the last week aside from DEgrom none of these pitchers are any good
If you don't think Lugo is a good pitcher
Eman11 : 6/14/2018 8:08 pm : link
You haven't been paying attention. All you had to do was watch him. He's not deGrom or Bumgartner great but he's a good to very good pitcher.

Same with this kid tonight. He's got great stuff and knows how to use it. Now it's just a matter of the Yanks making adjustments and getting to him for runs or working him to get him out of the game early.
