“End of the day, they gotta do what’s best for the organization,” Flowers said of the team trying to trade him. “I don’t have any personal feelings about it and for me, I wanna prove myself every time I hit the field. I wanna get better every year and mainly, I just wanna do it for myself. It’s not to prove to anybody else, but prove to myself that I can play at a certain level.” |
Watched the interview and he strikes me as a player that cares about doing a good job and embracing the challenge.
Not his fault Reese chose him where he did.
He's got it physically to play RT. If he is aided by his own mentality, teammates and coaching he may positively surprise us all this year.
Go Ereck!
Hope.

If he becomes better than serviceable, since he'll be a free agent in line for a nice new contract.

Why we're so sure Flowers will be better at RT than LT?

Lol, exactly. At least Eli can see the pressure coming from that side. Every time I think of Flowers now on the left side I just picture Ansah lifting him in the air

its a win win. We dont need him to be an All Pro.

I don’t see us resigning him unless he looks like the best RT ever. I think his replacement, if not on the bench this year, will be coming in round 1 or 2 of next years draft, with God willing a healthy Gettleman at the controls.
I give the nod to E. Flowers because of his real game experience over 2nd year man C. Wheeler. This is his "future" as he needs a solid campaign to get a big contract as a UFA. I do believe the Giants made the right move by not committing to his 5th year. Prove it, baby.
I think this year's OL will be:
LT - N. Solder LG - Hernandez OC - Hilapio OG P. Omameh and RT E. Flowers
Backups will be C. Wheeler, B. Jones, J. Jerry (versatile veteran). Not sure if we carry more than 8 OL and maybe as many as 3 on the PS?

: ) .... that is about as laconic (and perfect phrased) .. a summation as I have ever heard.
Granted, the Beatty injury put him at LT, but they should have moved him the following year, instead they doubled down on the stupid.
Then the fans and media tore into a young kid that hasn't had any consistency in coaching and is playing a position that he doesn't have the feet for.
Maybe he will sink, maybe he will swim, but this is the first realistic shot he has had.
