The showers were flush with the rest of the bathroom floor so there was nothing to hold the water in the shower. Bizarre. Link - ( New Window )
I’ve had rooms like that here in the states. They were handicapped accessible rooms that they put me in for whatever reasons. It is bizarre, but not uncommon
Most important thing in Paris is to be near a Metro Station. Trains come every 4 minutes and you can get anywhere in the city
Also, depends on your age. If you want excitement and do t care that much about noise, stay on the slope of Montmartre. You can get some deals but you are going to hear people in the street until 2 am
Wife and I stayed at Reykjavik lights. Not right downtown, real close. Don't recall the coast. You can walk or a 2 minute can ride. Rooms were really clean, could be bigger. We were only staying over night till we could get out of the city. Large lobby and lounge area. Breakfast was include. Number of restaurants close by. Reykjavik is not a big place. Enjoy your trip. If you have time I'd suggest getting a car and drive out of the city. With I 2 or three hours drive you can see a lot of cool places. Most are right at the road. Weather can change quickly. I recommend you try a hotel the Latin Quarter in Paris. Â
Recently stayed at La Lanterne, which was nice but a little pricey for a small boutique hotel. But the area was great. Lots of cafes and bars, since it’s near the universities. It’s also right by Notre Dame. BTW, Latin Quarter refers not to any Spanish influence, but actually to Roman influence in that area in antiquity. Also, make time to hit the Montmartre district. So cool. Have a great trip!
in Reykjavik. Nice little boutique hotel. Had a nice bar on the first floor, along with a hipstery barbershop. Nice modern rooms. Center of town. Would stay there again if we went back.
a number of years ago, and loved it. Front-facing rooms overlook the Parthenon in the 5th Arrondissement, a short walk from Notre Dame, Tuillery Gardens, the Louevre and other museums. I highly recommend looking into it - affordable, great location, very nice rooms. Enjoy, sounds like a great trip!

Enjoy Iceland. It's a wonderful place! I would move there if I could, but it's very difficult for Americans to get residency in Iceland.
There are are bunch of webcams in Iceland. Here's a link to one.
Enjoy!

It was real easy to walk all parts of Reykjavik.
