That's my thinking too. If he can't add an ace or even much of an upgrade to the starting rotation, I can see him going after a top arm to lock this bullpen down tight. Plus keep him away fro the Stros,Sox or Indians.

Something along the lines of that obviously there are guys you really want to hold on to, but this team deserves every effort possible to get the pitching help they need. That reads to me he's gonna try real hard to land some kind of pitcher. Obviously I trust Cash and I don't think he's unloading the farm, but it will be interesting to see where they go.

not necessarily inconsistent, but Suzyn was quoting Tim Naehring tonight as saying "there's a lot more where those guys came from," or words to that effect, referring to the low minors relative to the success of the recent callus.

Definitely agreed. It is worth noting however trades will DEFINITELY be made no matter what even if it's simply for more IFA money.. we won't be able to protect all these guys with the 40 man. Many need to be traded, even if it's selling a little low, otherwise many will be lost to rule 5 for nothing. And these guys are better then Cortes. I could be wrong but I think we have to protect guys like Tate and Acevedo sooner then later and many others but again I'm definitely not sure exactly I just know we definitely should try to trade some of these guys even if it's for just another luxury BP arm or something or IFA money, better to get something and make some room for the next wave since our current wave is massive and holding us down.

Unfortunately, most of the young promising arms are still a few seasons away from the majors

if the two young kids are workable starters--or better--and if we use out surplus at SWB to trade for one more starter this year.

If you want to stay with the plan and go with young players they are still two years away before Sheffield, Losiagna and Acevado will be good enough to carry them through. Sevy cannot do it alone. Do not count of Tanaka , CC or Sony "THE WASTE" Gray. They will be better off starting a playoff game with the bullpen guys each going three innings a piece. The OBJECT is to win the WS and not hit 250 Home Runs ( with no one on base) or be the most entertaining team in the league... that puts $ in the owners pockets but does not win you ANYTHING.
