As previously announced, Jonathan Loaisiga has been called up from AA-Trenton and will be making his first start. Tyler Austin has been optioned to AAA-SWB to make room for Loaisiga.
Also, the Yanks will be facing old teammate Eovaldi on the mound for the Rays tonight.
The line on Justin Sheffield from last night's AAA-SWB victory was 5.1-IP, 8-H, 2-ER, 1-BB, 7-SO. Drury had a good night at the plate going 2 for 5 with a HR.

Hopefully we get the offense going and the pen does their job.
Looking back, I was one last year who said "who" when the 40 man roster was announced, and his name was on it.
I was one who said "who" when they announced he was pitching today...
This is why the 2017 & 18 Yanks have been so much fun to watch. They are a bunch of young talented guys just having fun. Not the old worn out vets.
It's like rooting for a different organization. The team is completely revamped with this youth. Most fun as a fan I can remember.

Was gonna say the same thing. Pedro wasn't very big either.
I guess neither would be considered modern day but I don't think that matters. If you've got the stuff to get major leaguers out, that's really all that counts IMO.
Do you have any doubt that Gator or Pedro wouldn't be just as effective today?
The quality of their pitching works in any era.
Nope, no doubt at all. In fact I think they'd both thrive even more because of the amount of strikeouts and lack of importance placed on them by batters and teams.
Can you imagine how many guys they'd each strike out in today's game?

They'd be deadly.
The last month he has been as filthy as he ever was at his best.
Welcome back big guy
Welcome back big guy
Impressive.

And just realized - I forgot to count tonight
Make that 15.0 IP, 26 Ks

Totally agree.
I think Boone has realized he's best when only pitching one inning. I'm sure down the road in a big game he'll be needed for more but for now, he's gotten his confidence and stuff back. Leave him at one inning and keep building on what he's doing.

Eh, just need them to fire me so I can be head scout for the Mets
yes, sir!
Congrats to Johnny Lasagna and Gary Sanchez...
Yup. I'll take back to back wins by rookie #4 and #5 starters anytime. No matter who they're playing. Outstanding job by both of those guys and who knows these two wins could be huge when we look back in September.
It was all I could've hoped for but honestly wasn't counting on them giving us what they did. Huge lift from both IMO.
Yep how he and Kahnle do over the next month will be important. I think if they struggle or get hurt again Cash may look to add an arm in the pen at the deadline.

even if it is TB. We need the "good" Adam Warren for depth.

That's my thinking too. If he can't add an ace or even much of an upgrade to the starting rotation, I can see him going after a top arm to lock this bullpen down tight. Plus keep him away fro the Stros,Sox or Indians.
not necessarily inconsistent, but Suzyn was quoting Tim Naehring tonight as saying "there's a lot more where those guys came from," or words to that effect, referring to the low minors relative to the success of the recent callus.
Definitely agreed. It is worth noting however trades will DEFINITELY be made no matter what even if it's simply for more IFA money.. we won't be able to protect all these guys with the 40 man. Many need to be traded, even if it's selling a little low, otherwise many will be lost to rule 5 for nothing. And these guys are better then Cortes. I could be wrong but I think we have to protect guys like Tate and Acevedo sooner then later and many others but again I'm definitely not sure exactly I just know we definitely should try to trade some of these guys even if it's for just another luxury BP arm or something or IFA money, better to get something and make some room for the next wave since our current wave is massive and holding us down.
I agree though fully
Seattle came back to win 7-6
I'd bet that they are saying the same thing about the Yankees.
Glad to hear! And yes, I'm sure they are saying the same thing.
