1. Sevi vs. Stanek.
2, Nice MLB debut by Loaisiga last night. Gammons calls him a young Riveria
3. Cash makes it clear Gleyber is untouchable (so ESPN shut-up with the Gleyber for deGrom nonsense)
4. Nice game by SWB last night.
- Red Thunder with a HR
- McKinney with a 2B and HR (he suddenly has been raking HRs at quite the pace)
- Drury was 4 for 6 with 3 runs, 2 RBIs and a 2B (he is now hitting .344)
I'm a big believer in patience and guys playing to,the backs of their baseball cards. Especially younger, proven guys.
The thing is though, the longer he goes without making an adjustment the deeper hole he's going to dig and make it that much harder to get his numbers even close to his norm.
I don't believe it's as easy as sooner or later, like its a given. It's going to take work and adjustments to what he's doing now. If he's got the it'll come attitude or thinks he's not doing anything wrong, there's no logical reason to think his slump won't continue.

Why did the Rays pull Stanek so early in the game?
He's a reliever. That's how they've used him. HE averages less than 2 IP per start...
Ahhhhh. Rather unconventional approach.

His BABIP coming into today was .197. His BABIP last year was .304 and .317 in 2016. He’s actually walking at a 5% higher rate this year and his power (ISO) isn’t far off last year year. The only batted ball stat that really stands out as different this year is infield flies, which are up well over 100% this year. He’ll start squaring those balls up sooner or later and when he does, well that’s just unfair to the rest of the league.

Wouldn't expect anything less from the Rays pitching coaches...
A Brian Kenney wet dream special. It's a damn joke.

One would hope batting below the Mendoza line would be a wake up call that he’s not doing everything correctly. I’ll bet he finishes above .270 on the year
I agree about the Mendoza line part and sure hope you're right about the .270 part.
when your own third baseman is stretching and doing calisthenics you know there's a pace of play issue.
Good for him and nice to see he went dead center with it. If he keeps that approach, he'll get straightened out quick.
By not leaving in Sevy, he loses the shutout and needs to bring in Chapman anyway. Should be another nail in Shreve's coffin.
Hicks should have caught that too. Would have been a great catch, but it was in the glove.
Boone will learn. Any lefty relievers at SWB?
...wasn't high.
Bad move.
Crowd was actually a little quiet for Stanton’s HR but went crazy for Sanchez’s blast
Would have loved the shutout, but a win is a win..

I think people are really apathetic towards Stanton. I have noticed it too.

Also Severino. I don’t think the fanbase actually realizes how good he is and that he’s the most important person in any World Series run

IMO he just hasn’t had his big welcome to NY moment yet...we all remember guys like Matsui, Giambi, Tino having big moments to win the crowd.
Yup. It's a marathon not a sprint. Save his innings wherever you can and up 4 was plenty to get the W without over extending him needlessly.
Playoff game it's a different matter but there was no need for Sevy to go another inning there. He's our Ace and did his job.

will be games he needs to go to 115 pitches or so. Today with a 4 run lead we didn't need that, so save it for when we do.

10 or 12 more pitches wouldn't hurt. Having to use Chapman was not the best, either. He will need rest too.
I know he just wanted Shreve to end it and figured it was fairly straight forward. The HR to Duffy was bad. Bauer's rip to CF should have been caught (very tough catch and I think the Sun had a lot to do Hicks missing it) Hicks ran it down, got it in the pocket and it popped out. Think he lost it that last 1/4 second.

Maybe not but there's no way anyone can say that definitively so why take a needless chance? It's mid June not the end of September or October.
Agree about Chapman and the rest though but once I saw him up, he might as well come in and pitch.
I put all this more on Shreve than anything else. He gets the job done and no one is questioning anything. He's the weak link in the pen and I'm hoping Cash is looking to upgrade there.
I knew someone wouldn't be able to comprehend. No one is complaining about the team itself. The team is great. But if a player struggles quite a bit, even if it isn't costing the team, it's still worth pointing out. Not like anyone is going crazy over it.
Boston so pesky still on our ass despite being 46-20
Keep it going boys!!
