Bobby Valentine

Delusional post of the day? Probably but deal w it.

who cares if he isn't w the modern millennial ways. Obviously modern doesn't work w the Coupons. Lets face it, he worked best w the NY Mess of anyone the past 30 years.

Any other answer is wrong.

Bobby Valentine couldn't coax this bunch of half-steppers into 9 innings of focused baseball. Neither could Joe Torre, Dallas Green, nor Davey Johnson.

You could prop up the corpse of John MacGraw in the corner of the dugout....and this bunch would still be throwing to the wrong base, and swing at pitches in the dirt.

They stink from the top down.

Bingo.

True. But since ownership likely won't change, or be changed, expect more of the same.
But, given their record, they could be the Reds or Marlins.
Is a pointless waste of energy regularly complaining about the Wilpons

They aren't likley to sell the team any time soon so it's a moot point.

As far as what they need, IMO Sandy Alderson has served his usefulness and at this point they need to find a new GM with a fresh vision for the team.
the Mets on paper shouldn't be this bad

they have several young core pieces that have performed well, but basically all on the pitching side.

deGrom, Syndergaard, Matz, Wheeler, Gsellman, Lugo have all done well. That's a good core pitching staff. We've gotten terrible performances out of the back end of our bullpen, which hasn't developed AT ALL.

on offense, our three core young players are Nimmo, Conforto, and Rosario, and only Nimmo has produced. I don't know what the deal is with Conforto, he has such a sweet swing. Rosario I really don't know what to make of his offensive game down the line - he seems like addison russell upside type player which is fine but nothing earth shattering.

I really hope Alonso can come up and be Rhys Hoskins and Conforto can go back to '17 conforto and then we have some building blocks.

Valentine and Phillips. Two underrated met figures. Looking back I'd gladly have them both again.
They need to invest the money they are willing to spend

Into their own system. Draft better, develop better and grow and expand the organization from the inside.

method and philosophy.

They are functioning like a Cinci Reds / SD Padres, despite its market

not knocking you, but it's amazing to me how much the Mets org has built in an expectation to only re-hire former failed management. Valentine was a really good manager so maybe I wouldn't call him failed, but the fact that they brought Omar back after how he exited, it's all the same mistakes over and over again.
All they need apparently

Lolz.

This is going to the Mickey Mouse Club’s poster-child of quotes.
Callaway is grasping at straws with all these lineup changes.
PhiPsi125 : 6/17/2018 12:08 am : link
Conforto bats 3rd, 4th, 5th...can’t hit a lick so he bats him 1st? Now 7th.

Nimmo has the highest OBP on the team and has been batting leadoff and now down to 5th?

Rosario has been relegated to the 7, 8, or 9 spot all season and now is leading off?

I mean, it seems that they have actually scored some runs like a pro team should but Mickey is lost.

think if the Mets were smart they could sell pretty hard at the deadline and come away with a lot of high ranked prospects. I’m a Yankees fan so I can’t say anything about what they have in the farm as I don’t follow them to much. But they have a couple of pitchers that they could get a lot for this year.

I would love to see the Mets be competitive, it’s always great when both NY teams are good.

Corbin is a LHP so he didn’t want Conforto and Nimmo who haven’t looked as strong versus lefties further down the lineup. Nimmo was moved because the middle of our lineup were dead pull hitters who had a lot of weak contact when not hitting extra base hits. What good was getting Nimmo on base if nobody could drive him in? Callaway is sacrificing OBP from the leadoff spot to have more of a chance to drive in a runner from second base with a single
