I'm heading down to Cape May / Wildwood next week for my daughter's week long dance competition. Need some recommendations for restaurants / things to do. It's my wife and 2 girls (Ages 13 and 10). We're staying a block from the boardwalk in Wildwood so recs can be anything from on the boardwalk or somewhere where we need to drive to in Cape May, Wildwood or anywhere else in the area. We're pretty much open to anything / any type of food / activity and we've never been down there before (We'll be there Sunday 6/24 - Sat 6/30 if that matters).
Oh and some of us Dads are going to try to golf once or twice so any golf course recommendations / tips would be appreciated too.
Thanks!
Cape May is a billion times nicer than Wildwood. I'd stay there as much as conveniently possible.

lol oh boy. The competition is in Cape May Courthouse so it's actually closer to Wildwood and there will be alot of back and forth driving so most of us chose Wildwood / North Wildwood to stay. Should be interesting.
in those towns vs Wildwood. Go to the Cape May Zoo. If you have never been you will be surprised at how big it is.

Cape May National is a good course, although it’s been awhile since I’ve been. Better course is Shoregate, which is a little further away, inland from Sea Isle City. Probably about a 25 minute ride from Cape May, but worth the trip.
Oh, one little tip: go to Sunset Beach in CM one evening to see the sun set over the bay. It’s really beautiful, and there is a place over there for ice cream and mini golf.
Enjoy your trip.

I second Sunset Beach. We would go to Lobster House and get take out and picnic on the beach watching the Sunset!
Wildwood Creast is 100 % nicer than Wildwood residential and doesn’t have the Boardwalk and all the low life’s as in Wildwood. Always liked Mulligans on the boarder of Wildwood and the crest. Okay for pub food and a beer. North Wildwood has a couple of Irish Pubs don’t remember names.
Check out Cape May winery & the brewing company.
For dinner, the Merion Inn and Peter Shields are both excellent choice.
The Washington Inn used to be pretty good as well.
The Lobster House is your place for sea food. The lines shouldn't be bad since the summer season isn't in full swing yet. The Raw Bar at the Lobster House is my favorite because of the atmosphere. When I was younger, my uncle was a charter boat captain and after a tuna charter or something else we would bring our haul to the docks by the lobster house, sell it and than grab a beer and dinner or lunch.
We airbnb'ed a house in North Cape May a block from the beach, and it was great. The water is less wavy and safer for the small children.
I like the Blue Pig restaurant at Congress Hall. Lovely town.
The first year we stayed at some motor inn on the parkway because it was close to the competition. no good. The other 2 years we rented a house by wildwood and that was so much better. i dont know where you are staying but the main thing is that food, beach, boardwalk, etc are in walking distance. This way the groups of kids can get together and just walk to where they have to go instead of trying to figure out how many are going where and how many cars are needed and which parent is going where.
For breakfast the Mad Batter is a must. Or if you are going to be going to the boardwalk in Cape May then Uncle Bill (or Uncle Bob) Pancake house right across the street from the boardwark is decent and very convenient.
Sunset Beach is also a must for you and the wife. without a doubt.
I dont really remember the name of much of the other restaurants but there are a bunch right in the wildwood area that were in walking distance. Again being able to have any amount in a group just walk instead of all agreeing to one place or having to figure out how many want to go where and in which cars is the key.
i never went to the zoo but i hear that its pretty good. The dads typically skipped the zoo trip and hit the bar!!
I liked the beach in cape may a lot better than the beach in wildwood but it was the opposite for the teens. Wildwood is a lot more entertaining. But if the adults want a nice beach day definitely hit Cape May.

Keith Laudeman? My aunt and uncle are close to the Laudemans. Never had to wait for a table there. :-)

Just wanted to chime in here since I’m down here right now. I’ve never seen anything like it. It was so bad at our hotel (drunk, belligerent literal scum of the earth white trash screaming and blasting music until 2am and the hotel did nothing) that we forced a refund out of them, checked out this morning and thankfully found a really nice place last minute in Avalon. I’m not the person that generally complains but this was the worst thing I’ve ever seen. And Wildwood itself is just as bad. Man I wish I started a thread before we booked it. Thank God I was able to salvage it.
reminds me of coney island

Why? Literally every other shore town is better than Wildwood.
probably from Philly or nearby filth
