the best mayo I have ever had was homemade. My wife and I were driving through Normandy and we stopped at a little bakery. They made us these ham and cheese sandwiches on baguettes with their homemade mayo and I was licking the wrapper afterwards. Delicious...
just do yourself a favor and use only pasteurized eggs or run the risk of the nasties. That, and never leave that fucker unrefrigerated for any period of time. Basically, make, fridge, apply, eat immediately.
Store bought, I go for JustMayo. No eggs, somewhat lighter and doesn't have the same concern for going bad at room temperature.
Mt dad passed in '99 and he had a cholesterol problem. I told him Miracle Whip tasted like sugary crap to me. He argued that it has no sugar. Read the label. One of the main ingredients was sugar. Yuck!
It wasn't mayo. It wasn't any healthier for you. It was like someone bought a ton of slightly expired tangy mayo and sold it at full price as it's own recipe.
the Hellman's (it's called Best out here). Love mayo. Made homemade once and didn't care for it. Probably the oil I used (Costco EVOO) or possibly I jsut can't get past the taste I'm used to. Maybe I'll try again.
club sandwich with extra mayo on the side.
also great to rub on swordfish and put on the BBQ with creole seasoning and parsley. it's egg whites and vingar for god sakes

No, it's not, otherwise you wouldn't have the calories or cholesterol that mayo has in it.
put a thin coat of mayo on your steaks before searing Â
also, coat the bread with mayo when making grilled cheese sandwiches. Better than butter in both cases.
I tried the mayo on grilled cheese in lieu of butter. What a catastrophe. It didn't crisp up the bread, and made it gooey soft. It was such a shit show that I'm reluctant to try it again as it made a mess out of the pan.

Odd. It's always worked for me. The toasting comes out better in my experience. Of course, butter adds more flavor though.
that would put so much Mayo on her food it was absolutely disgusting. Like she would get a sub put Mayo on it bite by bite. I almost vomited just rethinking about it.

You’re supposed to use light olive oil - not the good stuff. I use regular olive oil with mustard powder and lemon juice for homemade aioli. It’s really good. Doesn’t taste like typical mayo though - lighter.

I had a similar experience in France. I was at the shore west of Bordeaux just checking it out (son was playing soccer nearby). I bought an egg salad sandwich from a young lady who was just selling them at the roadside. Completely changed my view of what an egg salad sandwich could be. Every bite was insanely delicious.

Like the label says, Miracle Whip is a dressing, not mayo. Sure it's mayonnaise based, but it was originally made as a quick dressing for cole slaw, or potato salad.

See now that makes sense - that tangy flavor would be what you'd look for in a salad. But still, unless that salad is loaded with water, it's way too damn thick (and not really complex at all, more like expired mayo).

Hellmans on the west coast. Seriously same manufacturer. For some reason back east it's hellmans and on the west cost it's Best foods. We use the Lite. Can't taste the difference and much healthier. Use it for tuna and BLT's.
I can't wait for the Mayochup from Hellmans.. Mayo and catchup..

I didn't think I'd see those words strung together on BBI.

It was a real Mayo...?
oh yes... French Fries with that combo is amazing. I even prefer may to ketchup with fries... I even add salt and pepper to that combination.

Ever have them like the Brits with malt vinegar?
I used to hate mayo as a kid. Now I like it only with turkey breast.
