NFT: FBB: Met Fans..question (or any savy fantasy player)

How likely are the Mets to trade Familia to a team and thus diminishing his closer value?

I look at the trade that the Royals and Nats made last night with Herrera... He now has limited value with Doolittle closing for the nats. Im worried that Familia will also lose value and want to try and get another piece now.
Mets have said they are now open to trade talks for everyone.

any thoughts?

are extremely high. FA after the year, will get 4 years on the open market at significant coin and they traded for a bunch of relievers. Familia likely represents the most valuable piece they trade at the deadline.
I second what Dan said

Not to mention, they may have a better closer in Gsellman on the roster already. I wouldnt hesitate to trade Familia if a decent package is offered.
They are almost certain

to trade him unless they get really hot over the next 3-4 weeks and get over .500.
third what Dan said

Closers ARE NOT vet pieces that teams possibly consider holding onto even during a rebuild like say a degrom.

Plus he will be a FA.

I'm in the same boat w FBB. I have been hit by the dreaded closer trades twice this year with Herrera and Colome. And I also had fricken Osuna who was lights out before taking the wife beating plunge.

It's a risk

as others have said he's likely to be traded but say he goes to Houston, he'd probably be their closer.

It's possible depending on the destination his situation improves from a fantasy standpoint (though like I said it's risky).

In my FBB experience, closers are usually easy to come by. I never draft one very high. This year I'm rolling with Shane Greene (DET) and Bud Norris (STL). Both solid guys that I grabbed off the WW. I did draft Familia though late in the draft, but I haven't used him in weeks (weekly league).
It's the Mets - they're likely to screw it up

and not trade Familia because they either think they can still contend, believe that trading him sends the wrong message that they aren't in contention, or don't get a "good enough" offer. Only to watch him walk away for nothing this winter as free agent.

Of course the flip side to that question is how many saves would Familia get on the Mets in August & September after the team quits?

Familia's good, but not good enough to hold onto if someone makes a nice offer. He's not even that great a closer. Gsellman is probably just as reliable. Sell, baby, sell!
