Panthers will not renew contract of sr. exec. scout Don Gregory, per sources. Gregory is a longtime talent evaluator who was Panthers' college scouting director for a decade.
From 2017
“They also bumped veteran college scouting director Don Gregory to “senior executive scout,” putting him in an overseeing role for both pro and college scouting. They named longtime college scout Jeff Morrow their new director of college scouting.
“You are always looking to improve your scouting operation,” G.M Dave Gettleman said in a statement. “We made some moves after taking a look at everything. I feel really good about our personnel group, both pro and college. We feel this strengthens us even further.”
Yes. Welcome.
It's about a 90 minute flight from Charlotte to Newark.
Am I missing something here? This is the way pretty much all businesses work - new leadership comes in and they surround themselves with lieutenants they know well and trust.

HAHAHAHAHA. I know that guy. ;-)
That applies to just about every industry - just take a look at the resumes of some of the CEOs and board members out there.

no doubt, thats where the saying comes from
In ANY line of work, if you have someone you already know, already get along with, believe in their ability to do the job the way you want it done, you bring that person in if the opportunity arises. It's a no-brainer.
Why is there anything wrong with this? Why is any different from when head coaches often hire the same position coaches they're comfortable with?
Further, if you really wanted the Giants to clean-house after last season, this is a continuation of that. Bringing in fresh blood -- guys that haven't been with the Giants for decades.
.
As many others have already pointed out, that is just how the NFL works and companies in most industries. The higher-ups bring in the people they know. And they people they brought in have pretty good resumes.
What people were worried about was that the Giants were just going to promote people from within. And aside from Gettlemen, there is a ton of new blood on this team, obviously quite a bit from Carolina. I welcome it, Carolina has been in the playoffs 4 out of last 5 seasons. Shurmur was just in the NFC championship game. Bettcher's team hasn't had the most recent success but he wasn't fired due to poor work and brings a whole new look to this defense that it hasn't scene in many years. And had a #2 ranked defense not too long ago.
It's a work in progress and remains to be seen, but this offseason has not been the 'same-old' that we've seen so far this decade at all.
