If you examine the URL tight after you clickthru, you should see this at the end:

&linkCode=ur2&tag=bigblueintera-20

a dumb question. If you start your shop through the link, Amazon will credit BBI. The Amazon page shouldn't look different.

I copied the BBI link to Amazon and added it to my favorites bar. I support BBI without even thinking about it.

Yup, it shows that. I just checked it. One thing though, when I searched an item, in this case a cd, when I clicked on the cd, the address bar no longer had anything in it that said bigblueintera-20. Hopefully you get credit for the sale in that case.

What happens is every time you visit a website, the web server assigns you a session ID. It reads any initial information contained in your URL (www.xyz.com?BBI) etc.

You keep your session ID until you close or X out of the window. Very easy for a web server to store that info into a database along with a timestamp, the company you purchased from and the selling price, etc.

Really? I wasn’t trying to be inappropriate. It was really curiosity. I’m assuming BBI gets a cut of the purchase and I imagine it to be a small slice but was curious what it could be. .
