NFT: Gutter Guards, need help!

EdS56 : 6/19/2018 8:41 pm
So, we have existing gutter guards now that do not have holes on the top, and they do keep stuff from going in the gutters. However, the water just flows right off it and spills at the bottom and makes for mess, etc. These came with our house.

So, we had some people come out to look, and they recommend that we change to Gutter RX. Those have holes for the water to flow in. The only issue is, we're probably re-roofing in a few years.

If we have to change the gutters, would we still be able to use the same Gutter Rx tops? OR would that have to change cause they are fitted? We didn't ask the installers today.

Thanks for any info!

and the debri goes up over the wedge while the water drains. very ingenious.
i forgot the name but try googling.
it is inexpensive and works great
also it doesnt hurt to put gutter covers with holes on the gutters. pretty simple one end goes under the shingle the other clips on to the gutter
depends

depends on the condition of the gutters at the time you replace the roof. If you replace the gutters in the future, why cant you just put the gutter guard in? Gutters come in standard measures and it shouldn't be an issue to pull the gutter guard out and put in the new gutter, unless you are going to install copper gutters
If they aren't installed correctly

the back side can cave
Personally, I don’t think any of them are any good

They’re all a trade off. The ones that keep debris out best let the water pour over the edge in a downpour (and vice versa). Ice damming is a concern with any of them. And cleanings (which will still be needed periodically) are a lot more expensive.
Don't they make

gutter guards that are like a screen?
I had various

gutter guards over the years. We have several oak trees that release seed threads in the spring that clogged the screens... Looked into high end replacement guards for $4-$5,000.

Last year we had them removed all together and hired a gutter cleaning service that comes twice a year for about $300 total. Problem solved.
