BBI is the first place I go for Giants and Mets news. It is still the best place to find non - newspaper type information it would have a big impact on my sporting passion.
I'd be super bummed out. BBI is one of my favorite and oft visited sites, and is one of the best online resources Giants fans have.
BBI is as much a part of the football season and offseason as the games themselves, at least to me. I love the banter, Sy56 insights, breaking news, etc. Where else would any of us go to get that good stuff?
occasions. But BBI 2018 is not the BBI I joined in 1996. Perhaps it is a sign of the times and what the internet, generally, has become but BBI now has far too many trolls and those who just want to stir the pot as opposed to having a rational, reasoned discussion.
I would miss the information provided which is the main reason I check out the site. Other than that, I certainly would not miss the Corner Forum.
I took a 6 1/2 month sabbatical. Honestly, never even lurked. Â
Took BBI off my desktop. As mentioned, insights from SY’56 et al as well as the incredible daily news compilations by DefenderDawg were sorely missed. Just on this thread, I missed interactions with arcarsenal, Fred, PaulN to name a few. Many others I was able to connect with offline and on Facebook. The ones I couldn’t connect with via those mediums I missed and so I returned for interactions/insights of those I’ve always respected.
I also FINALLY got it! That is, stay off threads that are stupid and uninformed as well as no longer interact with those I do not care for or respect. It’s working. So far. 😎

I'm one of the first 100 to BBI, even recall the old Pete's Corner forum. Whoever he was. LOL.
Pete was the site's original IT guy. Pete's Corner was in response to Eric being overwhelmed with Letters to the Editor. At one point, people would submit letter after letter in pissing matches with other letter writers until Eric put a cap of two letters a day per person. Man, those were some wild times....

Affect me at all. 4 years ago it might of. Having a family will do that. The Giants losing doesn't bother me as much. I would be depressed for a couple of days after a loss years ago. Now I get over it quickly. I enjoy this platform and it's a given that I'll be on it daily. I appreciate it!
Well. I would forget there are so many Giants fans who whine and root for the Eagles in the Super Bowl?
I'm still stunned at how many Giants fans were rooting for the Eagles. Including my dad, and my family has had season tickets since the 50s. I just don't get it.

Agreed but not surprised at the same time. Some weird stuff I've read over the years as a member of this site, but that is the sad winner.
good information on the draft, some knowledgeable posters who used to play ball at various levels giving unique insights, not to mention a good alternative sounding board on a range of non football topics.... but between career, kids, friends & family, home maintenance, working out, etc my cup is full, so if BBI ended, it would not affect my life.
Counterintuitively, I think BBI helps me stay out of my "bubble" Â
As much as internet communities are derided for creating echo chambers, I appreciate BBI for the way in which I believe it attracts contributors from many different walks of life. As can be evidenced by the necessity of a "no-politics" mandate, BBI is far from an echo chamber, and I believe plays a positive role in helping me to consider the views of those with whom I don't necessarily agree.
forgotten after passing away, and I needed a distraction to fill some hours of the day. Silly as it may sound, BBI was huge for me and helped me retain my sanity. BBI was tougher when I started and the abuse I took on this site was like a challenge to me that I had to stand up too. I would have missed BBI in a big way. Today I don't know, I got old and I am still a freaking lunatic who takes the abuse as a challenge.
Now I'm not sure I would even follow football much without BBI but I don't think even that would impact my life. With a 5 year old there just isn't much time and the Giants are rarely on in Indianapolis.
If it's the mean spirited, obnoxious version where everyone is an expert such as leading up to the draft, for example, I'd push off the edge of a cliff.
If it's the good spirited community, I'd miss that aspect of it.
been coming here too long, and need my daily reads of Giants materials.
But I would have missed it much more when we had better NFT discussions. I can't remember the last substantive discussion we've had on the state of the U.S. economy, or sectors of the economy, like discussions on energy, oil, and trade. We also haven't had any Middle Eastern geo-political discussions or threads on conflicts, etc.
I see some of the very revered minds on here keeping quiet on these subjects and miss those threads a lot. It's a shame, but a sign of the times and what we are turning into as a nation, imo.
I've learned that BBI is really just what you make it and who you choose to interact with.
There are still TONS of knowledgable, great fans here. There are also a lot of morons with nothing better to do than stir the pot and try to piss people off.
I'm guilty of getting caught up in that sometimes still, but once you just narrow your scope and recognize who is worthwhile to engage and who isn't, it's a better experience.
I still think this place is a tremendous sports resource. I can get my fill of everything without needing to visit 5 different sites.
but at least I can stop wondering why football related threads that also have wider societal implications (redlining/blacklisting (ha) players cause of their political views; politicians making political capital of football; football as a protected monopoly; college players getting a minimum salary etc are usually prohibited as political topics. This does cause me great sadness -- that the quality of discourse now has forced us to prohibit such discussions.
have 10 or so years ago. Some of my favorite posters are long gone, and I have also cut back on posting on websites in general over the last several years.
besides the ability to quickly check in on any Giants news are the game threads. Yes, those same game threads that others absolutely hate. It is basically like sitting in a bar full of drunk Giants fans.
Other than that, it would not effect my life. I actually spend more time now on another forum where many more topics are discussed and the discussions are more civil. They can actually have political discussions too without the name calling.
Besides one news site. I would probably be super productive. But in all honesty, I wouldn’t follow the Giants 1/10th as closely anymore. When I found bbi in 2007 it changed my Giants fandom world. Before that I never really went to “giantscentric” sites. Only got my news from watching the team with my eyes and national outlets like ESPN tv.
I’ve gleaned other teams blog sites and I must say, BBI is far and away the best format for fans of a team they truly love. I know some hate the forum interface, but go take a look at some other sites, it’s so difficult to follow a conversation.
God bless BBI, and I’m very happy Eric is a die hard fan that took the time to create it.

Funny you mention it. 10 years ago feels like 100 years ago. Not just football I mean either, life in general.
Don’t appreciate some posters maybe I’m a little thin skinned but I’d don’t think they’d make thier comments to my face!

Always a better place when you're around, Fiddy!

Were politics allowed in those letters?
Then life would move on.
But I would definitely be VERY upset at first.
I've been visiting this site as long as I can remember. Sending Eric silly questions to the editor and waiting for his answer
Once upon a time I took this site (and specifically this forum) a bit too seriously. That ended a long time ago.
Lack of exposure to the BBI non-elite would improve how I view my my fellow man, however.

Winning answer!
I’d just use one of the other Giants sites to keep up on Giants info.

It is a sad existence how much value some people place on being a "regular" on BBI. It fills a void in their life.
Like any other addiction many many people would suffer, with some being unable to really cope.
Welcome...to Jurassic Park. I mean BBI.
If it's the good spirited community, I'd miss that aspect of it.
