Heard about this show for a while but never had the time to start watching till a recent coast to coast flight. On episode 4 right now. I like, but it’s a bit trippy. Do I have to know some backstory here that I’m missing. It’s part of the X-Men universe, right?
Its meant to be trippy, but I think its slightly dark, while keeping an overall fun atmosphere.
If you're on Season 1, stick with it, the story-line really ties together at the end.
Again, its a bit weird, but that's the character.
As for origin story, Legion's actual character details would be very tough to put into a tv show budget, and he's kinda' unlikeable. The the TV show is a bit of a reinvention that tones down the stuff that is hard to even describe about him.
I think Lenny (Aubry Busker) really steals the show.
Enjoy!
I'm on season two. It's so good. But really, it is a challenging show to watch. This show is not spoon-feeding you anything

Tbh I just started this show last week after seeing the Bolero sequence on YouTube. I had no idea it was basedbon XMen until a couple of episodes in. I did just finish chapter 7 and was startong to guess his father (especially after the Patrick Stewart impression in the calkboard scene.) I haven't seen an actual reveal on the show yet.
They make at least several references to "the professor" as his father in season one and two.
BTW- in order to understand the show title, you have to watch (and re-watch, listening VERY carefully to the dialogue of the Shadow King) in the last two episodes of season 2.
