Ten days on the DL, 30 days of rehab in AAA, doesn't have to be passed through waivers. "Neck strain."
Wasn't garbage time when he entered the game

It only became garbage time when Shreve couldn't get the job done.

The way this system churns out relievers, you can't tell me they can't find someone better than Shreve down on the farm. JP Freyereisen, Cody Carroll, somebody.

Stanton's walk-off HR last night was only the 2nd time in NYY history that a player has hit one with an 0-2 count and 2 outs.

I think the other was Giambi.

That's sort of hard to believe considering the Yankees have played like 18,000+ games.
Generally liking Boone so far...
Dunedin81 : 6/21/2018 11:18 am : link
but Shreve has reverse splits, so handedness is really a non-issue. The binder may say "lefty" but when your lefty can't get lefties out, perhaps you can go with a righty who does.

What's up with Kahnle? He pitched really well last year from what I remember. I know he hurt his shoulder in April, but he was activated like a month ago and it looks like his last outing against HOU was good.
No kidding?
Greg from LI : 6/21/2018 11:25 am : link
That, I would not have expected.

IIRC Kahnle's fastball was down several ticks in velocity

Ha! This is a great point. Puts him ready to be back just as rosters expand.

It's back up in the minors, I think they want to see consistent results before they promote him. 8 outings so far, allowed runs in each of the first 2 and then in the 6th, otherwise has been pretty good. So probably pretty close.

Good stuff. If he can get back to what he was last year, that'll bolster the pen even more.

Catching wears you down. I don't have a problem with it.

Honestly, last night was the first time in a long while that I was annoyed by one of Boone's decisions. He needs to face the fact that a)Shreve has a reverse platoon split, so he's no LOOGY b)Shreve sucks regardless. Honestly, I'd feel more confident seeing AJ Cole out there at this point.

Sure it wears you down but IMO no reason he couldn't DH today. This is at least twice now he has sat Gary when he was just getting heated up,and it seemed to cool him off the last time. I just don't want to see that happen again.

I'd feel different if he was still cold but that's not the case and I want to keep feeding him and get him locked in.
