They'll sing songs of it for centuries.
Interesting lineup for sure

Definitely do agree with Sanchez getting the breather. Day game after the night game, and he's taken some shots recently.

Paxton's stats are very interesting. His splits are very reversed this year:

vs Righties: .176 average/.231 OBP with 7 HRs
vs Lefties: ..364 average/.425 OBP with 3 HRs

Only 66 at bats against lefties, but that's pretty drastic.

Let's break out the brooms.

Paxton is top shelf
RasputinPrime : 6/21/2018 12:56 pm : link
i'm interested in seeing how we compete against him today.

Red Thunder in CF and leading off? Do we have an update on how close Gardner is to getting back?

Yanks/M’s have a premium pitching match up and they play the Red Sux vs the Twinkies..

ASSHOLES!!!

arcarsenal : 6/21/2018 1:01 pm : link
Paxton's last couple of starts haven't been too good - he got rocked by the Sox last time out and the outing before that wasn't so great either.

Outstanding pitcher. But hopefully he's still a little vulnerable here.

Paxton throws gas
RasputinPrime : 6/21/2018 1:03 pm : link
and I we should matchup well. Good thing we have Romine in there to even out the lineup.
honestly, I think Paxton's being overhyped right now
Greg from LI : 6/21/2018 1:03 pm : link
He's been fairly inconsistent. Some dominant performances and some real stinkers. Sawx lit him up ion his last start.
re Cessa and Cole
RasputinPrime : 6/21/2018 1:07 pm : link
does anyone actually think Cole has a real injury here? Can you get that injury from sitting in the BP for too long?

I'd guess this is going to be one of Cessa's final looks.

Definitely think it's one of those phantom injuries. Cole is out of options so he'd have to clear waivers were we to send him down.

He's pitching to a .69 ERA and .92 WHIP over 13 innings as a Yankee with 15 K's. Still only 26 years old, so the Yanks think they may have something.
If you want....

Bing bang boom
Greg from LI : 6/21/2018 1:22 pm : link
I'm liking where this one is going. It sounds ludicrous to say that we haven't seen the best of a 49-22 team yet....but I don't think we have. Judge has been a bit quiet for a while, and we all know about Stanton and Sanchez's struggles. Those all look to be ending.
.
arcarsenal : 6/21/2018 1:22 pm : link
Fuck. Haniger yanked that one back into the park. That was another HR for Stanton.

He's about to go on one of those ridiculous tears. You can see it.
Damn, I blink and it's 2-0.

I agree Stanton is about tear. The joy he had on his face last night was so great. Mike Axisa summed it up so well

Look how happy he is. Stanton’s been waiting for a moment like this. He’s been waiting to play on a winning team and waiting to hit meaningful home runs. He’s been waiting for that big Yankee Stadium moment that gets the fans in his corner. He’s been waiting a very long time to experience baseball joy. His face running the bases is what it looks like when a dude who’s been stuck playing meaningless games in front of tiny crowds for the better part of a decade is finally having some damn fun. So happy for him.

Miggy!!

Looks like Paxton, indeed, has not recovered from the shellacking he took last time out.

If Bird gets going soon as well, this lineup is just unfair.
James Paxton

"wanna get away"
Holy shit with this team.
bceagle05 : 6/21/2018 1:28 pm : link
I know we could use a starter, but I can't fathom dealing any of these young guys. This lineup is set for years, and we have succession plans in place for Gardner, Hicks and Didi. If it's not Bumgarner, deGrom or Thor, don't bother.
Ho Lee Fuk, this team is something else
Greg from LI : 6/21/2018 1:29 pm : link
The best Yankees offense I've ever seen was 1998, 2009 was probably second best. This lineup has the potential to blow them both away.

I hope Andujar stays. I'm becoming a huge fan of his very quickly.

Agreed. It's so beautiful to watch this. It really is. Even watching guys like German or Johnny Lasagna pitch is really fun too with a record like this.. this is VERY special, I would not mess with it at all. This is Yankees karma coming around and let's just keep it organic and get to 40 rings at the end of this run
well, damn, didn't see that coming
Greg from LI : 6/21/2018 1:34 pm : link
Cruz hitting one, ok, but Kyle Seager is garbage.

That's okay.

Actually was looking at this the other day. It was a somewhat forgettable season, other than ARod's incredible season, but the 2007 offense was great too. 968 runs and a .829 team OPS
Cmon, Sevy, wake up
Greg from LI : 6/21/2018 1:36 pm : link

Huh...they did?
Greg from LI : 6/21/2018 1:37 pm : link
I would not have guessed that. Those teams had a bunch of holes in the lineup around ARod and Jeter and Po. ARod WAS phenomenal that year, though.
he IS garbage this year

.224/.276/.413.

Yeah those 2004-07 offenses were excellent. They lacked pitching

2007 Jorge had an MVP caliber year, Cano, Matsui, Giambi, Abreu all had good seasons. That was a great offense

I'd rather get Randy Levine out of there. Important Yankee fan lesson for you, arc: Randy Levine is the absolute worst. Of course he's in the box with Cal, Garrett, and Lasorda, looking awkward in the background
Cash with Randy Levine, Calipari and Lasorda in the Yanks box
Stu11 : 6/21/2018 1:45 pm : link
what is it bring a douche-bag to work day?
oh, ok, 2007 was Po's huge year
Greg from LI : 6/21/2018 1:45 pm : link
I couldn't remember which year that was.

Still, it's pretty amazing that the Yankees' highest scoring lineup since the late '30s had a 1B rotation consisting of Doug Mientkiewicz, Andy Phillips, Miguel Cairo, and Josh Phelps.
Hey, whaddya know, Tommy Lasorda's still alive?
Greg from LI : 6/21/2018 1:47 pm : link
Yes, Yankees 101: Randy Levine sucks ass and is generally to blame whenever the Yankees do something stupid.

Haha, everyone I know that roots for the Yanks can't fucking stand him. I never needed to know anything about him - one look at him was all I needed.
Judge can be confounding.
section125 : 6/21/2018 1:50 pm : link
He looks at an awful lot of good pitches and swings at a lot of garbage.
I guess we just expect him to be "perfect" all the time.
