to name Trotz as head coach of the Islanders.
Lebrun and everyone else on twitter confirming it. What an upgrade and great day for this franchise. What better way to show JT that you're committed to winning than hiring a Stanley Cup champion coach who won multiple president's trophies as well?

No one is expecting Lou Lamoriello to confirm anything...but word here in DAL is a five-year deal for Trotz at least $4M per year.

Barry Trotz will be the first ever New York Islanders coach to take the job with 350+ games of experience and a Stanley Cup already under his belt. Franchise altering move for the #Isles.

I guess there's reason for excitement for Islanders fans, but let's see how he does without Ovechkin and Holtby.
Look who it is!
The king of absolute fucking suck.
A) Tavares isn't signed yet. B) Are you honestly comparing Barzal to Ovechkin? Barzal is great, but how coaches deal with young players (albeit talented ones) is quite different than having an already proven superstar on your roster.
Yes! Yes! Yes!

Hate that chant. Even Daniel Bryan doesn't like it. And what it has to do with Long Island/Brooklyn, God only knows.

lets see how he does with tavares and the Calder trophy winning Barzal.

Listen hater, I didn't compare them so don't put words in my mouth. JT is going to sign here and if not Ill eat crow. Why would he leave? He could've left if Snow was still running things but clearly Lou and Trotz plus new arena works as well

So far, Isles are doing great work this offseason. Get rid of Snow. Check. Get rid of Weight. Check. Hire the best coach available. Check.
Next, (i) use the 4 picks in the first two rounds that the Islanders have to upgrade the roster, (ii) sign Tavares.
Basically, outside of anything Rangers-centric, most of your crew on BBI is woefully uninformed on the NHL on the whole. I stopped posting here because most of this board is bereft of hockey knowledge, and outside of PJ, had no desire to continue posting to enlighten the masses. Heck, for someone that considers themselves looking to expand their professional horizons - as an attorney no less - you still refer to the team as "Brooklyn". You're smarter than that but erode your credibility with such stupidity. Hudson-esque.
And yes, two exclamation points are necessary. For folks like me near 50 and were present for the dynasty, this return to adults with foresight running the team and a bright future (regardless of the Tavares outcome), this is most definitely a cause for celebration. No one expects titles this instant. But after 30 years of ineptitude and the 12 year assfucking of the franchise by Snow, you damn well should understand we are happy at being run like a real franchise. And we're happy you're that concerned enough that you stopped by to post on our thread.

Not much, things are good. BBI is a better place when you're around for me to rag on. Hockey season can't come soon enough.

Always good to see you around these parts. Hope things are well, my friend.

Actually, I made a mistake, this should read...
Next, (i) use the 4 picks in the first two rounds that the Islanders have to upgrade the roster, (ii) sign Tavares and (iii) free Mike in Long Beach.
"You have Rangers fans on this board who don't even know the roster, and didn't even know you hired a coach and suggested the tires get kicked on Trotz."
You were saying?

Also, not a done deal, and still a fluid situation, but sounds like Isles may have good news on John Tavares as well.

Sounds like #Isles ownership, pointing to future new arena at Belmont Park, will be hitting their own Triple Crown this offseason - Lou, Barry and, coming into the homestretch, John Tavares.
To repeat, though, JT not a done deal and still a lot can change.

Nak, don't gaslight someone's spelling error to cover up your being called out. Own it. It's part of growing up.
Incidentally, I'm taking a corporate finance class this term that's a bear and I had a fleeting daydream recently of convincing you to take my final for me....hahaha

BBI is a surprisingly good source for Isles fans (like myself). Level of discourse on this site about the Islanders is pretty high level. Time restart the "drive for five" engine... (assuming JT is back of course...and we get a goaltender).
Not until Seth in Astoria and Jon in NJ are here

Good to hear man. With all the bull shit in the world its good to come back to hockey here.
pganut, your 1:02 a little harsh, no. Aside from Greg's hangdog, you have rabid and knowledgeable Rangers' thread participants Brett, Kyle, MAB, Kevin, many others not coming to mind (it's out of season, that's why). In general, I find the caliber of discussions over there to be of a high order, without much of the histrionics and mindless backbiting and insults that characterize Giants' threads. Of course it's going to be Rangers-centric and of course there are going to be those who are less knowledgable about the sport and (I include myself here) the NHL as a whole.
I think this is great for the Islanders and let the backbiting between partisans of the east side of the Hudson carry on in the style to which they have and mean good fun, no need to go out of your mind. (:
Don't know why he would. This is Gorton's team, not Sather's.
This from a guy who had a stage 5 meltdown because someone else started the NBA free agency thread a few years ago. Attention whore
First Lou.....then Trotz....the JT.....It is Christmas Day on the Island! Fantastic! Fantastic!
For this fan who attended the first ever Islanders game at the Nassau Coliseum, and bled blue & orange since.....I am ecstatic!

Of course. 75% of the viewership doesn't post. But all the high volume losers who post all day are convinced every negative post is a dupe.
