First. Doncics mom? Jeeeesus. Even a couple of my sons college buddies are texting him about her lol. Hilarious.
Lonnie Walker. Loved how he helped his mom down the stairs even when dad had bolted through.
Wendell Carter Jr. was accepted to Harvard. He was my pick this morning. That seals it. Carter and Wagner at the top of the second and Im thrilled.
Here we go!
Ditto
Young going at 5 helps
Wow, if he is sitting there at 9, do you pull the string?

The Knicks should, Porzingis will likely miss most if not all of the season next year so they should take Porter and essentially redshirt him. Then they will go into the following season with both and a likely top 3 pick.

I would, but I don't have his medicals. He's the kind of guy the Knicks have to take IMO. He can sit for the year and if he is healthy he could potentially be a franchise changer.
Honestly don't think the Knicks have it in them to draft a guy who likely will sit a year and has an iffy long term prognosis.
Love the Carter pick for Chicago. Lauri and Carter are two nice pieces to start with.
Warming up to him. Size of a small center and exceptional shooter. Good athlete, below average rebounder for a 4 but the 4 is his best fit. Not sure if hell be able to guard the elite nba 3s.
yeah buddy!!!!
Greg Oden status probly
Not even remotely like taking Frank. You can be critical of the pick, but that's just an asinine thing to say.
I like Knox as a player, but I don't think he's athletic enough to be an NBA SF. I think he's a stretch 4.
Good to hear. I have a small measure of confidence the current Knicks brass has a bit of a clue when it comes to developing players. Hope this kid works out.
But let nothing derail the 2019 tank without Porz
Let's see them develop ..
Nice little nucleus , one more tank job and draft a star and we might be onto something
I really really like Knox. Porter was my guy but he must be degenerately injured
A back, a hip, and questionable character are not things we could gamble on. If we were at #12 then maybe. Knox is similar scorer and looks alot like Tatum, but a year younger when they both came out.
I'm totally fine with this pick. Coming from a great program, still SUPER young, tons of talent to work with. He can shoot, he's got size, versatility.
This is cool with me. The Knicks didn't do anything fucking absurd which is enough to placate me, sadly.
Knox is a gamble, because he is the youngest player in the draft and hasn't come close to growing into his body yet. He's 6'9"
No, he doesn't have quality defensive skills, but could he develop them by age 21? He'll be 19 in August. Caliperi loves his upside (link), and supposedly at the Knicks 3 on 3 workout he kicked Mikal Bridges' ass.
So youre getting a 6-10 scorer whos tougher than you think but has a way to go. Hes going to mature physically. What you find out when you get him is thats what the league is moving to: 6-10 guys who can score the ball, can shoot it, can block shots. Athletically he can do it.
Picking a very young, physically immature player could have upside for next year's lottery, relative to Bridges at 21 who is closer to what he will ultimately become.
i want diallo, go full upaide with this draft

Teams are going to say two years from now, Why would we have passed on him? Calipari said during a conference call. Hes the youngest player in this draft. Hes mentally mature. Hes got a great drive and will within his body. But physically his body isnt there yet.

funny thjng about knox in high school he was known as a hustle, defender, rebounder type of player...
knicks got a steal he is gokng tk show so much more than what he was able to show at kentuxky
Mills too

It was actually Miles Bridges from Michigan St. who's ass Knox kicked. Mikal was the safer pick, and I liked that his pedigree. After taking Ntilkina last year - though they might have looked at the safer pick this year, but Knox is no way a bad pick.
Mikal Bridges was a safer pick, but probably will outperform the Knicks plan which is to build a playoff caliber team in 3 years or so, via the draft and FA. Can't have that
How does the new lottery system work?
What kind of comedy show are you doing?
Mother has to quit over this. I feel so bad for her and her son. Wow.
Who does the HR person call when something like this happens?
This is not good.

Mikal Bridges just did an entire press conference talking about staying in Philly. He was traded as it ended. He had no idea.

Colangelo must have made this pick and trade. Sucks for Bridges.
need some more athletes on this team, kid can shoot too
So did 10 other teams. And what has Cleveland done other than step in Lebrons shit that makes them so smart?
Any fan that blames any team for passing on a rookie with back issues is misinformed and lost. Dont care what porter does, I cant blame the Knicks for passing on him. Plus hes not even a perfect prospect IF hes healthy.
Was hoping Bamba slipped but Knox is a legit prospect. Works for me.
Bridges would have been an upgrade over Covington. Covington regressed tremendously last year.

Than Bridges for Philly.

I think Bridges is better offensively but Covington is All Defensive first team. Even Bridges has some defensive limitations. Smith can at least guard 1s and 2s and potentially overtake Redick in a year or 2 as the starter.
Yeah, most of those fans go there just to boo the pick, knowing it's an easy way to get on TV. Jets fans do it, too. It's embarrassing. We all have our favorites, but the Knox pick has been well-received overall.
He says the Knicks and especially Fiz fell in love with Knox after the workout, supposedly he really wowed them with his athleticism and ability to post up a bit and shot.
Wally came on later and is a better source because he does a ton of college hoops for the CBS networks. He seemed to like the pick but says Knox needs a lot of work. He agreed you just can't take an 18 year old with chronic back problems that high.
The father son combo that sucked when KP was drafted suck even more now. Of course ESPN cameras are all over them. I dont know why some nyc fans relish playing the heel role but they come across looking very foolish. The kid looked like he was going to cry.... again.
Booing the shit out of a Kentucky stud prospect that is now a Knick...... bright idea their Knicks fans... fucking assholes.
Free agency doesn't start until July 1, no?
Of course the Knicks took it to an extreme and tanked (unintentionally) for 20 f*cking years and still haven't rebuilt, but it sucks that building a competitive team in the NBA takes SO long.
We need to trade draft picks to get rid of Lee. Im not rushing to do that.

Basically every contender at some point intentionally or unintentionally tanked. Except the Celtics who just had the nets tank for them.
C. Kanter/Noah/Kornet(?)
PF. KP/
SF. Thomas/Knox/Troy Williams
SG. THJr/Dotson
PG. Frank/Burke/Mudiay
The guy I want is Trevon Duval. Super high risk high reward, which is fine with a 2nd rounder. I think he has a chance to be a much better pro than college player.
4.7 million..

At first, yes. But we're one offseason away from having 0 centers on the roster.
He withdrew from college before the season started.
Motor and attitude questions. And like Jon said, no one saw him play last year since he withdrew from Western Kentucky.
I believe so, yes
It's the same crybaby kid/dad from the KP draft that they keep trotting out there.

I don't want to make too much of this, but I get the feeling this is symptomatic of not being a well-run team, and that other symptoms will follow despite their talent.
Another NBA player from NYS's section 2.
The Knicks resisted the temptation to snag Porter Jr. at No. 9 and took Kevin Knox a versatile wing out of Kentucky whos still developing. Initially seen as a late-lottery talent, the Knicks stuck to their guns with Knox rather than take someone like Mikal Bridges, a system player without as much upside.
Knox can run the floor, lead transition breaks, take the ball off the bounce and hit from outside. Theres always pressure to find an immediate contributor, but Knoxs trajectory fits with the Knicks timeline. He should also complement Kristaps Porzingis well as the two can both draw defenders out to the perimeter.

but as a guy who was a kid during the real glory years, it's sad that the NBA basically requires a team to tank for multiple - long - seasons in order to rebuild.

Not disputing that. It just sucks that it takes SO long to rebuild in the NBA even for most well run orgs.
Contrast it with the NFL, last year the Giants unintentionally tanked, but no one should be surprised if they're a contender this year.

good call, he went two picks later

The NFL's structure is completely different than the NBA's. The NFL's structure is more similar to the NCAA tournament. The NFL is a 16 game regular season with single elimination playoff games. 16 vs 82 games. A team like the Eagles can lose their star QB and a hot streak can allow them to blaze through and win the SB. The Giants weren't ever the best team in the NFL in the years they won the 2 SB's. You can't compare that to the NBA where the best team will win 90% of the time in 7 game series. Therefore teams have to build accordingly.
