Need a thread that is different for this slow time of the year. I know many BBI members get to travel the world and some are even from other parts of the world. Last year on or about the 4th of July, I remember watching on the news fireworks from many locations all over the world. The 4th of July is a holiday that is uniquely ours here in the USA. Yet it has been adopted all over the world. So to you who may have traveled and spent the 4th celebrating in another country, can you tell us where and what it was like? If its very different, how so?
More specifically U.S.A.
How much have you had to drink? I think you’re confusing the 4th of July with New Years, my friend. Go to bed.
Who knew? - ( New Window )
Wholesome.
like maybe they have a hotdog snd American food like some people drink margaritas and eat some tacos on May 5?
Neither have I and I was actually born on July 4th. I would be aware of it.
More like Cinco de Quatro
I was there last year and they had a big parade from Republic Square (city center in the capital Yerevan) up Northern Avenue towards the Oprea House. Then afterwards that night, they had fireworks.
I asked the locals and they said they do this yearly since 1995 when their Constitution was first signed.

The point of this thread is what and how do they celebrate it.
Most places celebrate it ceremonially in American bars or as Summer festivals, especially in ex-pat strong communities.
Germany, especially around the military bases has events. But it isn't widespread, nor is it considered a holiday.
Hong Kong has a celebration, but it isn't a 4th of July centric focus - it is a Dragon Boat festival that will include fireworks.
Think of it like Cinco de Mayo in the US. Some places use it as a way to drive bar traffic, but most places don't celebrate it at all.
And you haven't lived until you are collected by the MPs when you celebrate past curfew near Ramstein on the 4th.
Guam, Diego Garcia. All over the world.

And my mother was born there, so I have many relatives, work associates, and friends there. They snicker at the 4th.

Lol, definitely true.
