what do you think of that kingsport team. They are dominating. Between Kingsport and GCL, you have this kid Newton, L.Santana, Mauricio, and Kelenic. That seems like a talented bunch.
is the most interesting team they have, GCL has some talent too. Cyclones are garbage. I usually hit up a few games and probably still will but that roster is ugly. Then again I feel bad for the fans in Bing and LV. I basically ignore the DSL stats, they have proven to mean close to nothing.
with their young players. I really think McNeil and Alonso should be in the big leagues already. They are 24 and 26. Braves are bringing up Acuna and Albies and they are like 3-4 youner, and you see a ton of these younger players coming up so much earlier. Gimenez should be promoted to AA, and I think Peterson is closer than High A

Keith Law criticized them for just that. It's not as if being conservative has worked out in their favor. Kelenic should be in Kingsport, GIlliam in Columbia or St. Lucie and Columbia has 3-4 guys who don't belong there.

McNeil missed most of 2 seasons to injury. And before that he was a 12th round pick who wasnt productive enough to merit a fast track approach. Its only with his newfound power that hes become a serious prospect.
As for Alonso, hes 23 not 24. Hes been a pro for 2 years and less than 200 games and hes already in AAA. Thats a pretty fast promotion.
but shown flexibility to be a little more aggressive when warranted (fast tracking Conforto). They did a good job with Thor, Fulmer, JDG, Matz, Wheeler, Familia etc. Some might say they were a little cautious with those guys but I'd rather see that the Mejia mess.
I think the biggest problem has been hitters not developing in Vegas. Dom, Rosario, Cecchini, Plawecki all excelled there over multiple seasons but it's been pretty meaningless entering the big leagues. It took Nimmo 2-3 years to go from playing well in Vegas (2015 & 16) to it clicking in the big leagues (2018).
Kingsport is raking - Newton, Santana, Vientos all smacking the ball around. They must have outscoured there opponents by 30 runs so far in the first 5 games. Up 10-0 tonite

Can SNY televise those games instead of the Mets games?
Vargas toDL after straining his calf conditioning?
must not see television at CitiField. In a nut shell, deGrom was screwed by a non-strike call that eventually led to a double and losing the lead but the epitome of Mets baseball frustration is their inability to put good, major league ABs together in crtical game situations. I know its been discussed adnauseum but its inexcusable stranding runners on 3rd with less than 2 outs so consistently. The Cabrera, Flores and Frazier ABs are prime examples of not having a plan and plate discipline in these situations. All three Kd and one was uglier than the next. Frazier standing there with his bat on his shoulder looking at 3 fastballs right down Broadway is simply inconceivable. I couldnt care less about his previous two ABs. It would be nice to see Callaway put something on in these situations. Hell, Dave Roberts called for a squeeze play which L.A. had no problem executing.
Theyre just so nauseating to watch and I question myself as to why I even bother.
If vets like Reyes and Bruce and Frazier and Batista were hitting a to
and Cespedes was healthy, you can justify leaving some young guys down for the FA clock. But these guys aren't hitting and the Mets aren't winning, so there is no other reason not to be more aggressive with young players.
How about Sandy going to bat for Reyes at the press conference? Saying how valuable he was this team. For a seemingly good guy, its pretty strange how much he loves defending a guy who cant play anymore who also put his wife through a window.
His snide remarks to fans, Wilpons refusal to spend or address the fans and the product they put on the field makes it very hard to be a Mets fan.
read that he had 2 errors last night. His bat is probably ready, but we've seen other guys tear up Vegas and have transition issues. I have no issues giving Dom a month or two look in the big leagues while Alonso can hopefully clean up the D a little bit.
Mcneil should be up for Reyes yesterday. Callaway continues to seem completely clueless as this team circles the drain. While Sandy wits back patiently.
I really wish there were some way to bring back Depo and let him assume day to day GM role. Sandy can manage the sell off over the rest of the season and Depo can get back up to speed on baseball in time for offseason.
more new manager brilliance - Reyes at SS, Blevins 1st ever start
Alderson right now is in the worst spot in professional sports. A failing GM in a intense NY market who now has to appease the worst owners in MLB to salvage his job security. I think Wilpons are indirectly steering this train now.
would not surprise me see them hold Alonso/McNeil back to save MLB clock time.
Also was listening to MLB radio this morning and the discussed the Nats trade Monday. IMO NY needs to frame Familia into a stud bullpen piece whether closer or setup man. With Herrera off the market he could be the best closer openly available now.
My guess is that the idea is to wait for a Cabrera trade, then

The Braves are in desperate need of bullpen help. I wanted them to trade for Herrera but the Nats beat them to it. Moylan and Freeman have been absolutely awful of late and both should be DFA'd. Today they finally promoted one of their top RP prospects Evan Phillips but they still need more as Vizcaino just went on the DL. Viz's shoulder is bothering him and it has all season which isn't a good sign. Assuming Minter is the closer now that weakens the depth.
To make matters worse Snitker is absolutely awful at bullpen management.
RE: RE: more new manager brilliance - Reyes at SS, Blevins 1st ever start
Blevins I think it is Tampa Bay strategy of mixing and matching relievers as the minor league arms due to pitch today are so poor
I know what they're emulating, is it not the sign of a desperate franchise doing something unconventional because they lack the talent and organization depth to do something as fundamental as start a starting pitcher?
The Mets are giving Amed Rosario a bit of a mental break. He'll be on the bench today and tomorrow. Mickey Callaway says the Mets are enthused with Jose Reyes' recent play, and will start him while Rosario (.538 OPS in June) "works on some things."
admitting they aren't sure they are sellers and are in-between buyers and sellers is the epitome of LOLMETS
Dan, do you really think he believes what he is saying publicly, or just saying the right things? Which ironically is the wrong thing...
Sandys strengths are his leadership and organization, patience and not looking desperate when selling. Perhaps is on,y strengths. But its over, the right people know that. Only question is will they do it correct,y or not, time will tell.

Honestly? It doesn't matter. For a guy who's supposed strength is dealing with the media he's consistently saying the wrong thing. He was making JOKES about Jose Reyes playing... the writers weren't even asking about him.

The #Mets gave Ronny Mauricio a franchise-record $2.1 million signing bonus last year, and he hit his first home run as a professional today. It was an opposite field two-run shot from the right side of the plate, his weaker side.

is this really true on a 23/24 year old prospect?
I can see this in a 19/20 year old, but once you reach 23 or 24 years old I feel like the service time clock goes away.
You're not hitting free agency until 30 or so by that age.

Cant wait to leave that shithole
Gimenez (Age 19)
Vientos (Age 19)
Kelenic (Age 19)
Mauricio (Age 17)
Ad. Hernandez (Age 17)
D. Peterson (Age 21)
C.James (Age 20)
Th. Szapacki (Age 21)
Stanley Consuegra (Age 17)
A. Kay (Age 23)
and with young players such as Alonso, Rosario, Conforto, Nimmo, Gsellman and a few others. Around 2021-2022 could be a good bump for us.

They shouldnt be this bad. Even with their injuries

You and your BS optimism can see your way out now. We cant have any if that around here.
