the team isn’t even the same as it was last year. Torres and Andujar weren’t on the team. Judge was a rookie. Sanchez was a rookie. There’s still over half a season of baseball left and are on pace to win over 100 games.

So how can they win over 100 games if they aren’t good at hitting? Ohh because they hit homeruns? Do those not count? This notion that homeruns don’t happen in the playoffs is ridiculous. Go find another team to root for.

Ok so let’s talk again in October I won’t post again till then. I promise!! I don’t want to piss people off who post on these threads every day I said what I had to say it’s my opinion. remember the name ODB it won’t be hard to forget. This offense is overrated and will be the down fall book it!!!!
Hallelujah

Now be gone
You sound like a guy who wants to be right
UConn4523 : 6/23/2018 9:44 pm : link
which is pathetic. And if you are, ohh well. Doesn’t take away from the fun any of us are having watching and discussing this team. Sports aren’t that serious, stop treating them like it owes you something.
The Red Sox are about to be shutout too
BigBlueShock : 6/23/2018 10:12 pm : link
By Mike Leake and the Mariners. The same Mariners that the Yankees just swept. Shutout in their home park, a clown park, where their offensive splits are absurdly skewed too.

They suck! Their offense is overrated! I wish they’d hit singles instead of home runs! If they hit more singles instead of those stupid HRs they wouldn’t be getting shit out by Mike Leake!

Sincerely,
12TB
Well they scored 2 runs in the 9th
BigBlueShock : 6/23/2018 10:19 pm : link
To avoid the shutout. Mariners 7 Red Sox 2.

Yanks don’t lose any ground

you don’t get anything more than 1 game in the loss column after any loss so stop treating it as such. Losing to the Rays is no different than losing to the Astros, not sure if you know that but there it is just in case.

The only issue I really have with this team is Shreve

Thwy could almost anyone in his spot.

Other than that, my question is how long do they stay commktted to Bird? And I don't mean just this year. He has the nicest swing on the team. Bjt his inability to remain healthy and his lack of consistency when healthy are valid points of concern at this point. A big part of this problem is Walker and Austin haven't been better.
While I agree the constant negativity from one particular

postsr is annoying and somewhat misplaced cor the regular season, one thing he is saying is true. This offense, as it is playing out, regardless of how many runs they score in the regular season, is nkt set up to win in October. They are over-reliant on HRs and on 3 bats. Two of those bats are rookies, so we don't even know what to expect down the stretch and in thebpost season.

That said, I don't expect Didi, for example, to continue to suck. ZLSanchez, on the other hand, is hitting under .200 for too long of a stretch to think this isnxt just one of those years for him. But, on thebplus side, when he does get a hit it almost always seems to be a run driving XBH.
I think what Boone is doing
UConn4523 : 6/24/2018 7:58 am : link
is he’s using our strong first half to allow extra time for players to work out of their funks. Players he’d otherwise stop using if we were say 5-7 games back. Atleast that’s how I see it and I could be dead wrong but it makes a lot of sense.

Bird need to continue to get at bats, as does Sanchez.
The last week Sanchez has had a lot
UConn4523 : 6/24/2018 8:01 am : link
of bad luck. He’s been hitting rockets that happen to hit he 3B, SS or LF right in stride. I feel like his timing has been better as of late and just needs to keep at it.
typical crying over losing 2 games

Everyone said the same thing last year. And even though if you believed BBI that losing in the 7th game of the ALCS was an utter failure, it wasn’t. It was a tremendous accomplishment for a team that nobody expected to be there at the beginning of the season. All season we kept reading here that there was no way they could win in the playoffs because they hit too many HRs. They beat Minnesota. They beat a very, very good Cleveland team rather handily. And they took the eventual champs to a 7th game. Boston got their asses kicked by the same team and they were the team that many here seem to want to emulate. They didn’t hit HRs, they hit singles and doubles all year. How did that work out for them?

Yes, they did lose in 7 games to Houston, and that’s all that matters, but FWIW, they outhit Houston in that series in almost every category. Someone posted the numbers awhile back. They Yankees certainly didn’t hit great, but neither did Houston, and they are another team everyone here wants to emulate. And they hit worse against a weaker staff, since everyone is always drooling over Houston’s pitching, the Yankees hit their pitching better than Houston did ours. So again, this idea that this offense isn’t built for the playoffs is hysterical. And this years team is even better offensively. Even if they don’t show it every single night or they go through dry spells. Just relax and enjoy the journey.
One thing I would like to see from Bird

Hit to the opposite field.

He is such a pull hitter he is very easily defeated by the shift to his side.

Id like Judge to slowly over the years level off the uppercut and hit opposite field. I think the shorter path to the ball and his strength will produce a steady 300/425obp/1.050+ player. Even if it means 35-40 home runs. If you have Stanton and Sanchez behind you that's the most valuable contribution from the 2nd slot.

After watching Sonny Grey id get a left bullpen pitcher and one more starter.

We need to remember that if they keep it close they can give German and Loiasiga and Shefield experience. They can manage CC and Severinos innings. They can get rest and sharpen the pen

They can go into this years playoffs in peak tune
