German on the hill. Have to avoid getting swept. Been a tough stretch offensively. I think we'll get a good bunch on the board today and come away with a win.
NYY:
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Gary Sanchez (R) C
6. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
7. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
8. Neil Walker (S) 1B
9. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
TBR:
1. Kevin Kiermaier (L) CF
2. Matt Duffy (R) DH
3. Jake Bauers (L) 1B
4. Joey Wendle (L) 3B
5. Carlos Gomez (R) RF
6. Mallex Smith (L) LF
7. Adeiny Hechavarria (R) SS
8. Jesus Sucre (R) C

SP: Matt Andriese (RHP)
CBP next. Hopefully the bats wake up there. Missing Nola and should be able to park a bunch of balls over the short fences there.
Oh well, just one of those weekends that you’ll get over the course of a long season. Good news is Stanton is heating up.

Tanaka is getting close, so that'll help a little bit.
But yeah, no doubt Cashman is going to make a move for a starter. Don't be surprised if he acquires two...
JA Happ and Cole Hamels?
I think he'll stay away from Hamels - or at least I hope he does.
Happ is a realistic target. Depending on what happens with the Angels, Richards is another guy worth checking in on down the road.
I wouldn't hate going after Tyson Ross depending on the price.
I still like German a lot, and I agree he should keep pitching and keep developing. Tanaka will/should take Johnny Lasagna's spot when he's back. German should get a few more turns through.
Gray seems pretty unreliable right now. Sevvy and CC are the only two guys I think you can trust in a bigger spot right now. So, whether it's one starter or two.. it'll need to be addressed. But I'm still very much against dumping the farm to do it.
Yankees are trying to win a World Series and you want to stay away from a proven pitcher whose got it done in the big spots of October in Hamels but will take Richards who is always hurt and Tyson Ross who stinks come on now
Cole Hamels got absolutely rocked in his last postseason appearance. He gave up 6 runs in 3.1 innings. That was 2 years ago. Now he's 34 years old. He has a 5.14 FIP this year. He wasn't good last year, either.
You want to give up a good prospect for him, be my guest. I'd say buyer beware.
Richards is having a very solid year. Yeah, he has a hamstring strain so it depends if he gets back from that and pitches decently. But his k/9 is over 10 right now and he's been a respectable mid-rotation starter.
Tyson Ross doesn't stink. He has a 3.34 ERA this year and was an all-star a few years ago. He has talent, he's been hurt and looks like he's getting his groove back now.
I'm looking for guys who can help but won't cost a ton to acquire, so these guys aren't going to be perfect options. I don't think the right move here is unloading half the farm for one of the Mets pitchers or Blake Snell.
The goal shouldn't be to go all in on this year, it should be to maximize the window of contention. Putting all our eggs in the 2018 basket would be the wrong approach, IMO.
So because he is 34 and got rocked in the playoffs one game two years ago means he won’t be effective here??? Tyson Ross was terrible with Oakland and Texas let him stay in the west coast in the NL with the padres I want no part of him in New York,
Ross hasn't pitched in Oakland since 2012 - why is that relevant? Can't I turn around and use your logic?
So.. because he pitched poorly in Oakland 6 years ago means he won't be effective here?
I'm only going back 2 years. You're going back 6 years.
Hamels is the guy you want. Fine - what are you willing to part with to get him?
Ross pitched in Texas last year he wasn’t terrible.. I’m not giving andujar Torres or Frazier for hamels
If he's "cheap," it's not the worst move - but again, if you look under the hood there, there's a few red flags.
5.14 FIP, 19.8% HR/FB (highest of his career by a good bit), 1.235 WHIP.
Not sure he's the right guy.
2 - Walker is the next to go.
3 - Shreve is going to be better than this someplace else very soon.
...ouch.
Not what the team with the best MLB record was looking for.
Is this the first leg of a nasty team slump?
Just release him, like they did Carter last year, funny thing is Carter was more productive lol
...by a fifth rate reliever.
Gotta either send him down or cut him.
He sucks every time he takes the mound.
And now he adds to the Yankees Tampa misery.
Bad ending to a bad weekend.
I think having the righty hitting Frazier pinch hit for him late might be a bit of a bad sign for Walker. Especially since Walker could've batted right handed there.
If Drury is anywhere near competent playing 1B in AAA then I think Walker's days in the Bronx are numbered.
...ouch.

It's the first time they've lost 3 in a row all year and it's almost July.
I don't think a "nasty team slump" is coming.
It's such a long season. This is going to happen. Yeah, it's annoying because it's the Rays and they fucking suck - but it balances out.
Can't win every single series or expect that 3 losses in a row will never happen over the course of 162 games. It's not realistic no matter how good the team is.
Kahnle has 3 straight scoreless appearances in SWB (3.2 innings) - I'd call him up and DFA Shreve. Khanle only had one hiccup where he let up 2 runs - that's in in his last 7.2 innings. Seems like he's getting on track.
Coday Carol. He'll probably be up soon.
Yankees Bullpen Last 18 Games (since June 5):
Chasen Shreve: 6.1 IP, 5 R, 3 HR
Rest of team: 54 IP, 0 R, 0 HR
Says it all and then some, really.

Ooofa. Yep that's gotta be it for Shreve.
I'd like to see a lefty added to the pen at the deadline if possible. Chapman is really the only other lefty we have back there and obviously he's not going to be coming in before it's closing time or we need to hold serve.
Considering how dominant the pen has been otherwise, it's probably not an absolute necessity - but if there's a good match somewhere, I'd be willing to listen.
SFG has a pair of potential targets if we want to go that route - Tony Watson and Will Smith. Brad Hand is probably going to be too expensive.
Cessa is going to pitch against the Phillies on Wednesday I believe.
Shreve is out of options and would have to be DFA'd.
I am in favor of that option actually- but I don't think Kahnle should be called up- he needs to build up IP after missing so much time. I would prefer that the Yanks bring up Cody Carroll or Feyereisen. Those two might be part of the Yanks 2019 pen- and it might be a good idea for the Yanks to take a short look now so they can get a feel for what they have and what they can do.
Yup!
I asked to be released. The Yanks signed me to a new deal on June 3rd and my home is in the Bronx now.

LOL. I hear ya. A friend of mine from college is a Mets fan & they've broken him as well.
“We’re lucky to have him,” Cashman said of Frazier. “He’s getting better. He’s a toolbox that every year since we’ve gotten him he’s exponentially improved.”
Granted, the 24-year-old outfielder could be one of the Bombers’ best trade chips given his potential. He’s blocked from an everyday role in the majors, but he also seems too good to deal for someone like a veteran second-tier starter. It would seemingly have to be a real difference-maker.
“We’d like to hold on to him,” Cashman said while suggesting there could very well be a more significant role for Frazier over time. “I know he’s someone that we’re going to get asked a lot about, and so far we’ve been able to say no and hand-check everything, but I’m a big Clint Frazier fan.
“He was a big piece of that trade of Andrew Miller along with some others and I think he’s got a lot of really good baseball ahead of him. He’s going about his business perfectly right now. He’s impacting us in a positive way and saying all the right things."

I have a lot of respect for the guys who are sticking with it and seeing it through. I just couldn't anymore. Life's too short for that kind of frustration. Couldn't be happier now.
What, his 15(whatever it is recently) at bats have turned him into one of the best now?
Yup. He could've been the spark to jump start the O again. Seemed to me he did something good every game he got in and would've won the game last night for the Yanks if not for that clown shoes Stadium.
Bullshit stadium and circus like ground rules cost us the game and later Sanchez.
What should happen next? Probably time to fire Boone I’m think....
Or maybe dock Boone a week’s worth of salary, since this is on him and it’s embarrasing...

of the MLB Rankings next week?! This is BS and completely embarrassing. This shouldn't be happening, this is on Boone.

djm, you’re better off ignoring that troll brother. He’s a Boston fan that has a man crush on Cora and comes here whenever the Yankees lose to pretend to be a Yankees fan and shit on Boone. He’s a disgrace
Lovely....Higgy coming up?
I’m thinking the same thing.
Because they need a LOOGY, even though he can't get lefties out......
